Im not sure if length of draft choice is a variable, but i know you usually have 90 seconds to make your selection - which would treble your length of draft!

I think nfl.com have just added a few new features for this season .... the most interesting of which is an "auction" mechanism for the draft, but I think they've also added customisable draft lengths .... you're correct in that last season it was 90 seconds and no way of avoiding it (unless of course you did an autopick draft or an offline draft).

However, I'm still keen to avoid long and boring drafts ...I enjoy my sleep too much to be staying awake just to draft fantasy football players !

I thought 90 seconds was about right for a draft choice - everyone has (or should!) have their draft strategy set out in advance, but invariably a weird or wonderful selection changes everything and then you have to almost wait your turn before you can start to consider who next to draft.

I havent yet seen the proposed changes on NFL.com but will take a look - ive tried an auction draft before on ESPN and hated it - so the 'snake' live draft very much my preference - i usually see it through to the bitter end, but then im a pretty sad individual where fantasy leagues are concerned!!

I haven't finalized all the plans yet, but my initial thoughts are to do something similar :-
(a) this year - a starting line-up of 10 plus 11 bench (i.e. Roster of 21)
(b) next year - all 21 are kept .... plus 6 IDP's are added and another 6 for the bench ...total roster of 33.

I think it's easier to build it over 2 seasons (or more), if the Roster is too big initially, it can all go wrong very quickly.

And which position would be your 10 starter spot?

Good question !

probably (but not 100% sure), it would be something like :-

QB
RB
RB
WR
WR
WR
TE
W/R (flex)
R/W/T (flex)
K

I would NOT include a Team Defense as IDP's are provisionally planned for Year 2, therefore a Team Defense doesn't really make sense (in my opinion).

And what if in the first year the starter spots would be the next:
QB
WR
WR
RB/WR
RB
TE
DT/DE
DT/DE
LB
LB
CB
S
K
+bench 5

in the second year something like:
QB
WR
WR
WR
RB/WR
RB
RB
TE
DT
DT
DE
DE
LB
LB
LB
CB
CB
S
S
K
P
+bench 10

Here is where we run into problems.
Unless it has changed for this year (don't think it has) , there are only 3 available positions for IDP ..... DL , LB & DB .... there is also a "flex IDP" position (i.e. DL/LB/DB).
I also think that there is no Punter position.

This is one of the limitations of nfl.com fantasy football

lol ...each site has it's advantages/disadvantages. I've played on sites such as fleaflickr, Yahoo etc etc.
Out of all the free sites I've used, I prefer nfl.com .... it's not perfect but it does the job OK.

I think that - in the fantasy football (and irl too) - the D# is more exciting, more interesting than the O#, but I don't want to cause problem if don't like me in that form, after a year I quit the league, so i will join only the Re-Draft League.

I love dyansty leagues. How dare you tempt me back into this! lol. I once had 12 fantasy teams going at once...then I slowly weened myself to 1...then none for a whole season. The hard thing about having a fantasy team is that you find yourself rooting against your favorite team sometimes. There were times I was watching a Niner game and saying ok...niners need a touchdown, but don't let Gore or Davis get it....lol sigh.

I'll play the dyansty league.
