Please could I ask Admin 2 questions about the new 'Global Ranking' :-
(1) What is the goal of this ranking ? What is it intended to portray ? (2) What are the factors currently taken into account by Global Rank ? ..... I don't mean a detailed explanation of the maths involved, I was thinking more along the lines of,are factors such as the following actually part of the calculation .... team form ? strength-of-schedule ? championships/cups won ? overall rating ? season's wins/losses ? As I mentioned in Steve's League Ranking Thread (which is indirectly related) , I understand that Global Ranking is still under development, therefore I was hoping for a civilised, relaxed, low-key discussion (and not some sort of sarcastic, negative,nuclear armageddon of a debate like Height/Weight was). |

a mix out of
teams offense and defense rating the games scores (points difference) a factor for making a difference between Humans and Bots |

There are 591 human managers (currently) .... would it be a good idea to consider all Bots as a waste of space and therefore the highest placed Bot team is ranked as 592nd (or even just remove Bots from having a Ranking ?

OK .... a different angle.
My Global Rank is 623. The highest placed Bot is ranked 106. I can beat that Bot. Easily. by (a happy) co-incidence ... that Bot is in my Division, so ... in 10 days time the 623rd ranked team will beat the 106th ranked team by 50 points + I suspect that some people will read the Global Ranking as I do i.e. a team that is 106th is much better than a team that is 623rd...... but when I look at the current Global Ranking, I see quite a few teams that look to be ranked much too high and also quite a few that look to be ranked much too low. I'm not meaning to be disrespectful or hyper-critical here Pete, I'm just trying to politely raise one or two of the 'anomalies' that I see in the current system. |

I just looked at one of these teams in the Top 30, this team has an overall Rating of less than 40% , and a Rushing rating of less than 37% , .... is that really a Top 30 team ??? |

Yep, when these teams where bots and beat other teams, they got higher rankings due this. And Buffalo is right (as mentioned many times by myself): we will not see if this ranking works or not until S5 is over |

OK .... a suggestion
If I understand the posts of both Pete and Buffalo, the 'Global Ranking' is not really a ranking in the strictest sense of the word, it's more of a 'over-performance/under-performance index'. Therefore, in order to have a quick and easy reference of a Team's actual performance, would it be possible for a 'Top 100 Overall Rating' ? But I'd like to cheat slightly and have the Top 100 Overall Rating actually covering all Human-managed clubs (there is a precedent for this, as the Top 100 stadiums hasn't actually got the Top 100 stadiums in it anymore  )
I once made this suggestion before, and if I remember correctly I think Mr.Turtle and one or two others thought it would be useful/helpful. The Global Ranking could then continue to evolve and you would have two views of your team .... The Global Ranking (showing you your team's relative over/under-performance) and the Top 100 Overall Rating showing how your team rated in a non-adjusted rating. |
