is a round robin system with 7 games granted to everyone!

THAT would bring more money in it.

Ok, now I see your point. Beforehand I was reading through Monkey's post too quickly, and the way I (falsely) understood was that Monkey meant to include the Div.I conference champion plus the next highest ranked team(s) from that conference (instead of Div.II teams) in a KO-based system. I agree 7, or what, guaranteed matches would be too high an income for the participating teams.

With regards to the "financial reconstructure" blog, I don't think the few percentage in gate receipt reduction in Div.II make up for "automatic" qualification into CoC Cup, plus 1st draft pick, plus extra trophies.

@ Tarjan: I also like your idea. It would mean more competitiveness throughout the different levels of CoC Cup, especially high quality in the highest Division competition. I believe at present there are too many teams included in CoC Cup that simply do not deserve to be there. Many of the qualified Div.II are not even playing anymore, and have turned bot. How disappointing is that?

revised idea:

same teams qualify as before but go into 4 groups of 4 playing each other once for 3 guaranteed games, the top team from each group go to the semi's and winners meet in the final.

so 12 teams get 3 games, 2 get 4 and the finalists get 5 games.

better?

I think Pete is trying to address the losing issue with the financial changes for next season.

In terms of the CoCC, I don't think there is much advantage to having the lower division/leagues in it. My first game was against a bot - - hardly compelling. Tomorrow, it a match up between Thunder and Galaxy Champions. A lot more compelling...

exactly so knowing if you were in the CoCC next season and yyou had 3 games against other 1.1 bowl participating teams to prove your good enough for the semi's would be an improvement in your eyes or not?

I am fine with the current system, i just think one could skip the stadium income in the games at all...there is plenty of money in the game and those incomes are IMO unnecessary. I would keep the price money, though, there has to be some reward for winning that competition.

I would like to see the CoC as a friendly cup like but playoff-based competition with an additional experience boost but without any income...but thats just me

+1

Maybe prize money of 1m per round - so the winners of the comp earn about the same as what they do from one home game now!

I think the best system would be:

-only 2 groups with teams from league 1
-all Conference winners
-8 AC teams in one group and the 8 NC teams in the other group
-7 groupgames and the winners of both groups play in the COC Bowl

pro: This is the Cup for the best teams from each league to determine the best team at RZA

contra: some teams have more games and more income. I could live with lower income it is far from reality, but this cup should be played for honor.

I like Buffalo's idea very much. Surely eliminating lower division teams is good idea here.

+1 for the champions choice.

The top division winners should compete in the CoC cup. There could be one for the lower divisions, like the europa league in soccer, but the main CoC should be exclusively for champions.
