I wish Pete woulda ran this by us Americans before he did this. I would have respectfully declined the homage. Its a nice gesture and all but Pete now folks are going to get their feelings hurt trying to compete with July 4th. And when their dates dont get formally acknowledged their going to feel its favoritism when in fact its historical honesty.
Guys look... even Pete knows the significance of July 4th.. sure he did it more out of spite of the UK but its the symbolism. Its very much an international holiday (ok ok.. so it isnt but its the most important date in international history as my 8th grade history teacher so liked to say). I think Pete was saying if your country (to show is objectivity he even includes his own country) didnt defeat a Superpower and then create and draft a totally new system of government then your date is a few notches below July 4th. That being said.. and since its already done, I would like to formally nominate March 2nd as a day to be honored site wide. Its the day Texas defeated Mexico to form the Republic of Texas. Texas being the football capital of the world I feel its only right for official recognition that date had on Football. Without March 2nd... I can make the arguement this game would be called PenaltyboxAction.org (I have no doubt it would be equally as fun and as progressive as the current model). |

This is so ridiculous, I can't find words for an answer. |

I can make the arguement this game would be called PenaltyboxAction.org (I have no doubt it would be equally as fun and as progressive as the current model). either this post is written by The Monty Python team and is the greatest satirical wind-up of all time ... or .... it must be April 1st , because some of the vacuous nonsense contained in this post is just plain foolish. I could take some time to dissect it and easily rip it to shreds, as it is so paper-thin to begin with, but I just haven't got the time nor inclination to bother with such utter rubbish. Why don't people just take the 4th July Wallpaper (and the St.Patrick's Day Celebrations) in the spirit that they were intended i.e. Pete likes American Football therefore put up some wallpaper to acknowledge 4th July ... and Pete likes Ireland (whisk(e)y, fun, good excuse for a celebration etc) therefore put up some wallpaper for St.Patrick's day. What next ? ..... somebody posting to say that Pete is a secret sympathiser to the IRA ? I think people should lighten up a bit and stop trying to imply there is some great underlying significance to something that there clearly isn't. |
