Excuse me if this is a frequently discussed topic (as I'm sure it is, but I can't find anything on it at the moment), but I truly think that under the current system/engine, yards passing per attempt and completion percentage are woefully short of being realistic stats. In real life, I'm a quarterback, so when I look at stats on here, what I'm seeing is driving me nuts!
Let's look through the top ten teams in the world, along with their top quarterback, and here's what we're looking at: 1. Jena Yellow Aces- Schneider; 3 star rating (4.3 YPA, 49% comp.) 2. Landru Athletics- Scoggins; 3 star rating (3.1 YPA, 73% comp.) 3. Gaia Gators- Costa; 2 star rating (3.3 YPA, 53% comp.) 4. Paderno Dragons- Cecchin; 2.5 star rating (3.4 YPA, 56% comp.) 5. Full Floters- Rozhkov; 2.5 star rating (2.3 YPA, 42% comp.) 6. Mighty Magpies- Gallardo; 2.5 star rating (2.9 YPA, 57% comp.) 7. Lucentum Penguins- Domenech; 2 star rating (3.8 YPA, 57% comp.) 8. High Fives- top QB doesn't have a single pass attempt 9. Cameroon Turtles- Schulte; 3 star rating (3.7 YPA, 32% comp.) 10. Maykop Dynamos- Rogov; 2.5 star rating (5.2 YPA, 55% comp.) The only player on this entire list that has a decent completion percentage is Scoggins from Landru Athletics (and he only has 11 pass attempts on the season). If you take a look at the best ten teams in the NFL, you're going to see that every single QB has at least 60% completions, all the way up to 71% completions and at least 7.0 YPA, all the way up to 9.5 YPA. Going off of that, the current engine is still quite a way off in regards to compiling realistic passing stats. IMO, that's the next big thing that needs to be fixed. |

The passing game does need some adjustments yet. But it is effect if used with the Run game. So it is on the right track.

I think we will see this change as the seasons develop and players get better.
It's much more difficult to complete a pass than it is to run the ball as you need good pass protection first followed by a decent passer and at least one decent receiver. So with many teams having sub standard personnel in at least one of these positions it's going to take some time to develop. Even if a side drafts just in these positions and a player has been here from day one they will only have just managed to fill these positions effectively. Then with DC personnel coming in as players tire throughout the game it stands to reason that a top passing side is a WIP not the norm just yet. Personally I think that come seasons 6 and 7 we are going to start to see a change in the tide from 99% rushing to a more balanced offensive set ups. What I have noticed though is that a completed passing play goes for either upto 10 yards or all the way to the endzone. There doesn't appear to be much middle ground in there but I may be wrong as I don't check out all the games every week. |

I think my Qb is not that bad, and my starting WR are ok that is the result of his passing last friendshipgame...
I-formation Passing: ATT: 19 Comp: 0 I-formation Running: 15 / 32 / 2.1 redoing my playbook .... Yes Passing is improving Perhaps the option "Deep Pass" could be eliminated, don´t think i completed one in the whole season... Last edited on 2012-07-13 16:23:23 by Tarjan |

Yes, you are right. This issue has been discussed back and forth, and Pete (aka Mr. RZA.org) says passing will become more rewarding once players develop past a certain level.
However, may I draw your attention towards a few very successful Div.I teams that have cracked the code and do implement very successful passing? (only league games, without playoffs) NI Ravens: Carman 59% for 3897 yards (5.2 avg) 51 TD - 6 INT Mystic Warrios: Ryder 59% for 1947 (5.0 avg) 23 TD - 4 INT Phoenix Firebirds: Melancon 45% for 2047 (6.6 avg) - 25 TD - 11 INT And there are many more. It is possible! Somehow. |

Passing is possible as long as you don´t pass more than shorts passes...
passed for 2942 yards this season BUT all short passes... Last edited on 2012-07-13 19:34:01 by Tarjan |

My QB (got him with the team) in this season made: 1389 attempts, 759 completions (55%) for 4827 yards (3.5 avg ) resulting with 31 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. BUT! In my first draft ever, prior to this season I took 2 really good WRs. |
