Carson Palmer thinks they're going to the playoffs .... also interesting to see that they're "a run-based team" ..... I'm wondering why they traded big for Palmer and why they're stockpiling ultra-speedy Receivers if they're a run-based team ?

Anyway ... the article is Here

There are - or maybe were is more accurate - few better throwers of a deep ball than Carson Palmer - it makes perfect sense that if DMac can have an injury free season, he will be one of the top feature backs of the season - no doubting his talent - just his sustainance.

Having a run based offense would leave so much potential for play action passes with speedy receivers looking for Palmer deep bombs - i liken it to the Titans of a few seasons ago, when Chris Johnson ran amok - yet Kenny Britt popped up at least once per game with like a 70 yard TD reception - and if not him then Nate Washington.

The Raiders have a good defense and are in the god awful AFC West - they have as much of a chance at taking the Division as anyone - so why not playoff football for the silver n black? I give the Broncos no love at all - the Bolts continue to implode it seems - and who knows where the Chiefs are at - they could be 3-13 or 13-3!!

So yeh....frick it - ill take the Raiders against the Division!

i am more optimistic for this season than i have since 2002, i still think 9-7 wins this division(8-8 maybe) but thats because the schedule is hard for the division in general. It boils down to McFadden lasting a whole season(doubtful) or if Goodson or Jones can step up when he goes down and keep defences expecting the rush, then the PA passing opens up and at least 1 of those recievers should be getting open regularly with all the speed there, then Palmers just gotta get it to them but play sensibly and not just throw it up hoping for the best. He can do that. On defence our DL is still scary and will get pressure anyway but now there will be blitzing as well(Al Davis expected the front 4 to do it alone all the time) and the new coverage schemes and players will hopefully improve our ability to stop teams.

Final note: the raiders were at least a 10-6 team last season if you take away some shocking 4th quarter performances(most notably against Buffalo), that was down to experience(lots of very young talent) and injuries, don't be shocked if we do have a good season and make the playoffs!

Palmer recently said that this season should be no comparison to the last since he will actually know the playbook this year. I hope he's right.

I saw him throw some INTs last year because he was more interested in self preservation than playing football. I think he might be done as a football player - time will tell.

You have actual evidence of this? Or is it just your opinion?

They are doing all that because in week 2 when McFadden goes out with injury again they will no longer be a 'run based team'

well no Moore or Ford week 1 but not a bad 1st quarter for either team, gonna be a close game and the AFC west is as unpredictable as ever with any of the teams as likely to finish top as they are bottom of the division
