Why not just extend the amount of time for such players to be contracted?

As far as what to do now - the standing rules are the standard rules. Bad management.

Or I'll be asking for a training session, player and a few facilities back thanks!

Why extend the time to contract players? That's like losing a player in RL because his contract is about to expire then moaning about not getting enough (or any) compensation for him.

Look at this post about the season rollover Season Rollover Now if it was 100% guaranteed to happen at a set time then that would be a different situation.

The selling player will have another 4 players sold today and transferred tonight. So lets just say for example that one of these players you was very interested in and for the past 3 rollovers it has always happened in the early hours of a Sunday morning so you bid on him because you think the rollover wont effect your signing. But this time Pete breaks down on the autobahn in his RZA sponsored Audi R8 so the rollover happens in the early hours of a Monday instead and you lose this player you coveted and paid for. Is that bad management on your part because you didn't buy the most expensive supporter account package so Pete could afford breakdown cover with his R8?

I am trying to add a bit of light heartedness to the situation but the only way to ensure that this situation doesn't happen is that no one buys any players during this time which would mean closing the TM for a few days.

Another solution in the future could be to simply delay the transfers for transfers completed within the last 24 hours of season roll over, so the actual transfer doesn't happen until after the roll over.

I think an automated solution needs to be found ..... or posts like this (and situations like this) will just re-appear at every season rollover ad infinitum.

The automated solution might be .... From the Wednesday before season rollover (Wed 1st Aug .... this year), all Transfers last until the following Wednesday (Weds 8 Aug ... this year) , this then covers the 'extended window' that Pete gives himself to roll the season. It's not foolproof ... but it is workable.

But it would obviously need to be communicated in a timely manner well before season end .... and also put in the Manual.
