Just another thought on a rating system for players. Another benefit of this could be to associate a max amount of money that a player can be initially listed at by the owner.

This would have the effect of livening the TM up since managers do not risk getting peanuts for good players.

If it wasn't suggested, why we can't make trades with the following restriction:
1) only one-to-one
2) trading players have to have a contract with the same length (for ex. both have contracts expiring at season end)
3) difference in wages of trading players must be not more than 10 (or 15, 20) %.
It would be active only for managers with activated contract mode

Looks alright to me. Not sure about 2 though - why should the contract lengths be the same?

I dont like that bit. In fact I dont like any restrictions on who can and can not trade. The problem with 3 is that teams needs may be different. For example I may want Cameroon Turtles waxed up 4th choice RB to improve my senior side but he may want a player from my YA as my senior players wont benefit him.

It's an improvement on only serious sides can trade though.

You pay for the player with 500 wage and 1 season contract less than for the player with the same wage and 2 seasons contract in total.

I picked the turtles because he's one of the better sides here. If someone puts up their 4th choice RB for trade and a newer side thinks that this player could improve his team he will offer a trade. Of the senior players he has they would probably not improve a good side so they may want a player from the YA. The wages are going to be massively different

He means say I have a back up 27yo RB that you need and he earns 10k. And you have a 19yo youth academy player that I like. While it would suit both sides (you get your starting RB you need and I get a player with a lot of potential) we cannot trade because the 19yo might only have a salary of 1k.

If that makes sense

Thank you both, I see now. But trades mechanism should be simple, based on pure maths and protected of cheating. I suggest something with the above mentioned criteria in mind. In your example there are great cheating potential imo.

=SUM(D2;E2;F2;G2;O2;P2;Q2) + (30 - T2) * (S2 + 50) / 10 * 1.2

This is what's in my spreadsheet for rating players at age 30.

The 7 variables in SUM are Physicals, pos,vis,int and Foot.

T2 = age
S2 = TW.

You can also add in position specific skills on top of that of course, and then weight everything for specific positions.

You now have a way to compare players of all ages.

If you wanted to do a really good job, you could study all trades to date and compare them to this rating to associate a price with every position and every rating.

Then you could set a % limitation for trades i.e. both players must be within a certain % of each other according to their ratings.

You could do the same with money, and if a number of players hit the ceiling, you have some sort of a tie breaker.
