Second unimportant preseason game aginst KC was lost yesterday. I think it is no problem. They made a lot of mistakes and they have to work hard to do these type of mistakes not again and again. There are still 3 games left to improve before the regular season. Here are some impression.

Many players looked tired after a hard week on the road away from Flaggstaff. Training at "home" in the next week will be an advantage.

The Defense still showed a poor tackling behavior. They must improve especially stopping the run.

In the Backfield there were a lot of holes and easy catches for the KC-receivers. It is due to a comlex system and a lack of communication. I trust in Horten, a former DB-Coach, that he will do his job.

The running game was really good and with Wells and Willams to potentially starters didn't play. I expect willams for the 4th preseason game and Wells for the 5th preseason game.

Kolb and Skelton had not a good day. Kolb couldn't connect with the receivers and Skelton had thrown an interception. When the OL give both QBs more time to throw, than both QBs will show a better performance.

I trust in the Cards that they can play much better, but it is not important what they are able to do, because only the real performence is important. We will see what they can do against the Raider next week.

With skelton's interception though i noticed he was on the move so you almost can't count it

A win is a win, but the oppontent were only the Raiders. The defense showed a solid performance against a weak Raiders offense. McFadden and the undrafted rookie Streater were the only threat they had to face during the first half. Rhodes caught an interception from Palmer and returned the ball for 66 yards. The MLBs Washington and Walker forced two fumbles, one recovered by Bradley and one by Haggens, who fumbled the ball again.
Rookie CB Fleming showed good tackling abilities, but he must improve his positioning, because he allowed some catches and was penelized for pass interfering.

The other Rookie DB Bethel showed his unique skills at the special team, when he blocked a punt and recovered the ball for a return TD and additionally blocked a PAT.

Coming now to the downside of the game, the offense. Kolb had a very quick start and led the offense from a good field position to a TD by Ryan Williams. Williams is back and was very explosive on his 5 carries. The OL was incredibly bad and allowed a lot of pressure. Kold didn't know how to handle this situation and struggled in the rest of his played. Kolb seem to have a huge mental problem and is not able to lead the offense under pressure. This make it easy for the opponents defense.
Skelton handled the situation better in his only drive in the second quarter. He completed 3 of 3 passes for a TD and showed more confidence than Kolb. Skelton will start against the Titans. If he show a solid perfomance there, than he will start in the regular season.

The one interference call that was correct (the other one was bs in my opinion) he had to make otherwise it would have led to a touchdown instead of the field goal

The game against the titans was horrible for Kolb and Skelton. You could put every NFL QB behind the O-Line and everyone would struggle. With the season ending injury of LT Levi Brown, there was a huge question mark behind the "blind side". D.J. Young started at LT and he had a lot of problems. His footwork look very strange and he will be not the solution at this position. Jeremy Bridges was better and gave Kolb a little bit more time to throw. Rookie Massie was the RT, when Bridges was on the other side. Masse had a couple of penalties for offensive holding, but this is a learning process for each rookie. The O-Line is acually the worse in the league and no help for the starting QB.

Skelton started with a sack and a INT under pressure. Behind his Line he was not able to lead this offense. Kolb started with an interception, too. Kolb had some very bad reads and very bad throws. BUT he had the best drive in the 2 minute drill befor the half time resulting in a TD of Roberts. Both QBs are not good enough to win the QB competition. They need also more help from the Runningbacks. Wells looked like somebody looks in his first game after such knee problems. Williams had some good runs and good be the best RB this season for the Cards.

Good news From Fitzgerald. He caught some passes from Kolb and showed, why he is so important for the team.

The defense had not s spectecular evening. The had some nice 3 and out series. Peterson had not his best game and allowed two crucial receptions of Rookie Kendell Wright. The defense tried a lot of different blitzpackages, but were not so successful against a stable Titans-OL.

After the next preseason game, Coach Whiz has to name a QB starter and a staring OL. I predict, that he will not make a decision before the game against the Broncos.

The QB battle will be decided in the training. Against Denver Ryan Lindley will start and Rich Bartel will be the backup. Kolb and Skelton are planned to sit out. So no reason to stand up at night and watch the game.

I think Skelton will start against the Seahawks in week one. What is your prediction. If a starter of another NFL team will go down during the season, the cardinals might try to trade Kolb.

The starting QB will be Skelton against the Seahawks. I think he will be the starter in the first 4 games. If he play bad, than Kolb might get a chance.

The Cards cut down their roster to 53 players yesterday. The have only 5 WR and 9 OL. In the defense they have 11 DB and only 7 LB, but AJ Jefferson will be traded to the Vikings. I think they will keep 10 DB and will add another LB. This could be Clark Haggans or another veteran Free Agent.

I'm ready for the season and expect the unexpected.

Experts talked a lot about the Cardinals and their QB-situation. Now it's time to play football. The Cards start at home against the seahawks. They play again against a Rookie-QB. NFL-experts see in Russel Wilson a Rookie, who play like a Pro. For them it is out of question, that the Seahawks have the better team and will win in Arizona.

Here is my prediction. What can the Cardinals do offensivly and what do they have to expect from the seahawks defense?

Seattle know the problems of the Cardinals OL. They will put a lot of pressure on John Skelton. Skelton can take some sacks, but he can still lead the team. He will make mistakes, but in a close game, he can put some points on the board for a late win. The Cardinals have a big unknown in the backfield with Ryan Williams. Nobody knows what he can do. Beanie Wells is on the injury report and is questionable for the game. I think that Williams will get the most carries, but Wells will be on the field in short yardage situations. The RB is the best friend of the QB, I think that the RBs can help Skelton a lot to move the ball down the field. The Cardinals must prevent turnovers and than they can win the game.

What can we expect from Russel Wilson and his offense and what can the cardinals defense do in this game?
Wilson showed good reads, he can anticipate blitzing defenders and open receivers down the field. If he see no pass option, than he can run himself with the ball. But he is still a rookie and his first pro start is on the road. He has to show, that he make no mistakes during the total game and not only in one half. DC Ray Horton is known for a huge repertoir of blitz packeges. The defense will put a lot of pressure in him from different positions. Adrian Wilson is a very special SS, if he play in the box. I think they will use him a lot to prevent, that Russel wilson get a lot of yards with his feet. The other defender you should focus is D. Washington. He got a nex 6 year contract this week and he is ready to make the next step. I think he can be a Probowl MLB this season. The is so fast and coaches report, that he is stronger than ever. He is the key to stop the seahawk run game. Lynch is not a 100%, but I excpet him on the field. The Cardinals can stop the run, if they do their job.

What will decide this game?

I expect a very close game. Small thinks will decide this game. The team with more mistakes will lose. If both teams make few mistakes, than the special team can be a hughe factor. The ST, which give the offense the better field position, could be feather that brakes the balance. I think I must not mention, what Partick Peterson can do on his punt returns.

My prediction is a 17-10 win for the cardinals with a winning TD-drive in the 4th Q.

That was a great game. We almost threw it away twice with pass interference penalties, but still managed the W.
