If you offer a player a franchise contract and he rejects the first offer, the drop down contract length box reverts to the shortest contract length rather than sticking with the franchise contract duration.

Hence, if you're not careful, you might be taking a franchise contract offer for only an additional year.

I think this is made by design, it happened to me already. This might be more of a suggestion than a actual bug. But I agree that when you are trying to make a bidding contract with a player and that player at the first attempt rejects the offer, the length of the contract should remain the same for the remaining attempts and not go back to shorter. If you are not alerted to it you will end up not signing that player for the extent you wanted to, to begin with.

Hmmm...perhaps its by design, but its pretty confusing / bound to cause problems.

Aren't all franchise contracts 1 year? AFAIK they always have been.

IRL it is a set amount of money, based on the average of the top 5 salaries at that position around the league, and for only 1 season.

That's true in the NFL where players are franchise tagged...but in RZA, its just a contract for 3 to 4 years.

Wiki "Franchise tag"

"In the National Football League, the franchise tag is a designation a team may apply to a player scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent. The tag binds the player to the team for one year if certain conditions are met."

I have not started contracts yet - is there something in there that suggests RZA differs from the NFL on this?

Manual :-

"There are different Contract types available. You can negotiate up to 5 Franchise Contracts for a length of 3 to 4 seasons, and you can negotiate as many 1 to 2 season contracts as you like."

So it seems implied by that that there are 2 sorts of contracts - normal, which are 1-2 years, and Franchise which are longer, 3-4?

So a different concept to the NFL altogether?
