Thanks for the responses.

It's always hard to track or to get how many actually do read the posts, so any face showing up saying 'me' is good.

I'd wish would just punch in 1 to 10 stars on the entries, but of course I can not force them.

My goal aways was and is:
- give an overview on the college football system itself, so understanding the mechanics, since they are different to pro sports
- give an overview on the current season, since of course that drives the interest

Not sure whether I'm always successfull on both task, but I keep on trying.

Thanks for the words, guys.

Yes read, Nick Saban of Alabama Crimson Tide is stepping down AND Bill Belichick of the Pro Teams New England Patriots also.

Those 2 guys did dominate the game for basically 2 decades+ and each has 6+ Championship rings on their level.

That's two opening on the coaches market you don't want to fill, right?

Pete Carroll up in Seattle, too. Three coaching legends that have been around since I started to follow the sport are now gone. Feels a bit strange...

Great job on the season Jack6! Very entertaining series this season!

I am an FSU grad and I will say that we would have gotten killed in the playoffs, much like TCU did last year. With that said, the playoffs are supposed to be a reward for past performance. This season, the playoffs were the reward for future potential.

No one wants to watch a yawner and at the end of the day, let's not get confused about college football, it is a semi-pro farm league for the NFL now. Probably always was! Anyway, those kids deserved a shot at the playoffs for their season performance and if selling merch, tickets and TV ratings didn't matter, I am sure they would have gotten their shot. But that is not the case and they did not get a chance. They seriously could not have competed with a 3rd string QB though, so they would have been one and done.

As far as the future, I don't know what the answer is, but FSU doesn't want to waste away in a poorly run conference like the ACC. That TV contract with ESPN was horrible! No other conference is under contract for that long and the worst schools in the Big 10 and SEC now make twice what FSU does annually off the ACC/ESPN deal.

Anyway, great season, awesome playoffs and fantastic BoG series from Jack6! Could not ask for more this last year!

Thanks for the words.

I would personally not put Pete Carroll on the same level as Bill and Nick, but he did a great job as Seattle for sure. Got a bit down in the past few seasons, for whatever reason.

Interesting, Alabama and New England already found their new guys.

Alabama did hire Washingtons HC Kalen DeBoer, who did elevate the team in only 2 seasons from a down spiral to National Championship Game participant.
They have to pay Washington an exit fee of 12 mio, but I guess that's peanuts compared with other payments in the business, especially when you want to get rid of a coach. Remember A&M will likely pay 70+ million to have Fisher leave. So 12 million to get a high flying HC is likely fine (until you reevaluate the deal in 2-3 years ....)

New England did promote their LB coach Jerod Mayo, a former Patriots LB as player, who is quite popular in the area. He is quite young and has no expierence as HC, so that is from public relation point of view good, on coach point of view a gamble, which might pay off big, or which will fail. Since many 'experts' were high on him, he seems to have a good reputation. But being a HC did turn out to be more than to handle for many. We will see.

Seahawks did not find their man so far.

And now Washington Huskies will need a new HC also. Many say they should instantly promote their OC Ryan Grubb, but so far nothing.

I like it, but it needs more NIU coverage.
