I know you probably don't play the 3-3, but did you realize that if you did and get a FS injured ingame, that you could have anyone playing FS?

From the manual -

"If you create an incorrect Depth chart (too few players, too many players, no Depth chart) the engine will create an Ingame Depth chart (IDC) for you. In case you have too few or no players in your Depth chart, the engine will fill the IDC with randomly selected guys out of your roster and use them for playing the game. In case you have too many players in your Depth chart, the engine will cut the IDC until it meets the maximum roster count."

So then if we do not put the entire 55 players in the DC then the engine chooses the remainder for us.

So if you do not have enough CBs/SFs in the DC to cover ingame injuries, and you call 4-1/3-3, then you are in a lot of trouble!

That could apply to any position though not just your CB / SF

If you have a starter and cover for each position in your DC thats 22 offensive 22 defensive and 4 ST that leaves 7 spots to account for cover. Most people only have 2 ST players in their DC so most teams have 9 cover spots.

1 x QB
1 x FB/HB
1 x OL
2 x WR
1 x DL
1 x LB
1 x CB
1 x SF

There you go that will cover every position with enough depth that if you are unlucky enough to suffer multiple injuries in the same position you still have it covered.

I in fact do play the 3-3-5. If you are concerned with injuries, then put your 2 starting fs and 2 starting ss like you would normally. Then back them up with each other. So your fs dc would be FS, FS, and then include the 2 SS.
Do the same for SS if you like.

at last .... it's taken 5 pages, but I knew that somebody would eventually succeed in making a sensible statement.

The only thing that this whole thread has done (apart from sending everyone to sleep ) is to show that the original poster hadn't read the manual regarding the Depth Chart.

I think the minimum number of stars that you can give a Suggestion is 1, shame .... if minus stars were possible, this Suggestion would be the natural recipient

Yes, I already knew that. But does everyone else?

I have actually been playing with 3SFs that way (the same 3 SFs as SS and FS), but if one was hurt I'm down to 2 SFs total and in trouble.

As we are now completely off-topic, I will close this suggestion. Finally it was answered by me. Thanks to hosh for going the challenging way and posting about ideas, no reason to make a laughter out of it.
