Must say I agree. It could be even 100% allowed - then it would be bigger chance for a sack, but also very much bigger for catching.

If I had my way today I'd be playing 3-4-4, with SS and a LB blitzing every play on regular downs, then dime with the LB blitzing on longer yardage downs....

Seeing as I'm against someone who passes 50+ times per game....

Exactly!

I would like to assign a % to individual players (probably via DC), and whenever the engine (or maybe even player) guesses pass, that kicks in.

And yes, I'd like the % to go all the way to 100%.

Players with a lot of speed, strength and agility would be better pass rushers than pass defenders. Leave the coverage to those with a lot of pos/vis and maybe a bit of catch.

Funny thing though - in my last game my opponent threw only once and got sacked!

All good stuff...

Blitzing is such an integral part of defense that more needs to be made of it here:

- blitzers catching RBs/FBs in the backfield
- flushing QBs from the pocket, forcing them to scramble, or be hurried into a pass, potentially increasing chance of an Interception
- but equally, screens and draw plays on offense to counter teams who blitz heavily.

First move though, especially with the new engine coming, and more of an emphasis on passing, we need to be able to blitz more frequently, more predictably, and more flexibly.

Blitzing is a quite dangerous weapon...keep in mind you have no chance to readjust your tactics during the game. This is the main reason for limiting blitzing...

Please read my statement again, 100% control could be a wrong path IMO.
