What are your thoughts for the season so far?

Best Teams? Worst Team? MVPs so far? Most Surprising Team? Biggest Disappointment? Likely Superbowl Contenders?

6 weeks in and only the Atlanta Falcons are 100% - no team winless. Just two teams have lost only one game - the Ravens and the Texans and most Divisions are an absolute mess/scramble.

But isnt that preferable to runaway teams? The NFL so far this season has been consistent for its inconsistency - many teams have looked world beaters one week - yet cannon fodder the next.

The Falcons have looked human - the Redskins and Raiders both running them very close the last two weeks - the Texans were put in their place by the Packers this week and the Ravens have snuck past teams rather than strolled past them.

At the other end, all '1 win' teams can claim to have something of substance - the Jaguars arguably looking the worst of the bunch but are by no means a 'gimme' win week by week.

And then in the middle you have teams that truly could be anything. Superbowl Champs to Divisional chumps - offences have certainly been on top of opposing defences and predicting game winners has been nightmarish!!!!!

So to my selections :

Best Team - Im going for the Houston Texans. They have shown tremendous form on both sides of the ball and they arent gonna come up against A-Rod every week. They should walk their Division and are a lock for the playoffs - there HFA could be crucial.

Worst Team - Just the Jaguars - wouldve been the Browns if not for their win against the Bungals but they have had some close losses so you know they arent all bad. The Jags always have to be respected purely for MJD - but they find ways to lose and look in for a long season

MVP So Far - Yes im biased, but its gotta be Robert Griffin III. The guy has surpassed expectation in leading an impotent Redskins O to the joint 2nd highest scorers in the NFL. Averaging 30 points a game its not just been RGIII's explosiveness that has impressed - his decision making and calmness has been seriously amazing. Key upcoming divisional games will test his mettle - but 6 games in the guy is simply awesome - and few, IMO, can deny that.

Most Surprising Team - Difficult one this one, but im gonna plump for the Seattle Seahawks. We knew they had a suffocating defense, but i think their O has surprised many and to go 4-2 with THAT schedule has to be respected. Good luck to them for the rest of the season - be good to see them carry this form on.

Biggest Disappointment - I will enjoy saying the Dallas Cowboys. They could yet make a mockery of their start, but they seem to have regressed despite plugging alot of the holes they claimed were all that was missing standing between them and a true SB run. Hopefully they will continue to flatter to deceive as i hate the tossers.

SB Contenders : Hmmmm....for now i will go for the Chicago Bears v Houston Texans. Could very quickly change though!

I'm going to look at this a slightly different way.

AFC
east
all teams stuck on 3-3
usually NE has this div won by now....I am going to predict an upset and say Buf sweeks out of this div. ne colud steal a wildcard

north
balt seems to have this div... if they can survive the loss of lewis & webb they should hold on. expect to see more rice than a chinese wedding

south
Hou has this one won... although I am not yet impressed by them.. GB was the first hard team they played and they folded pretty easily...need to see them put a couple of real teams away before I become a believer....ask me after week 10 after they have faced balt & chi

west
den & sd hold this one.... my guess would be sd come thru here...den is one broken neck away from ending thier season..and a few more seasons after that

NFC
east
nyg are the class of this div. rg3 is fun to watch but want be enough to carry wash deep....he is a much better player but it is the tebow sindrome allover again

north
hard to pick.... chi & min hold the lead but hard to write off gb... i think gb get it together and win this one
min & chi wil fight for one of the wildcards

south
atlanta... nothing more needs saying

west
3 way tie so far... well it was fun for ari while it lasted...sf & sea will fight to the bitter end i think sea will win the div and sf a wildcard

as for mvp... i think foster will get it...soft schedule and he will get a lot of touches towards the end. should be leading rusher and have a bunch of TD's sorry rg3...maybe in 3 yrs

i think nyg over hou in the bowl

The biggest thing for me this year was how the teams would compare to last season. The lock out seems to have had an effect on the number of passing yards conceded this year compared to last. i feel it has vastly improved compared to last season, with the exception of the replacement refs who did their best, but it wasn't good enough.

The biggest surprise for me is how bad the Saints have been. They have been a little unlucky, but before season kick off we had a discussion on here where the majority didn't think the suspensions would have a big hit on the team.

There is a definate shift of balance happening in the NFL. The power teams of the last 10 years are now loosing their all pro players to long term injury or retirement. It's interesting times just now for us football fans!

Football unlike every other sport operates in a perpetual vacuum year to year. Its along the same philosophical like that one can never step into the same river twice... and Jerry Jones is going to die never giving up creative control of the Dallas Cowboys.

I feel sorry for the people who live in Dallas.

I'll leave the prognostications to the prognosticators but will answer this one question. I think the MVP of the league thus far is Percy Harvin. NO ONE assumed Minnesota would be even the slightest bit competitive in that division... especially considering that Peterson, we all assumed, would be taking a step back. Harvin has done everything for that offensive except snap the ball from center... w/o him I'll say Minn has no one anyone fears on offensive and teams will pull the 8 in the box.

Injuries no withstanding... the Texans were the best team last year with the introduction of Wade running the defensive. Aaron Rogers put in the God cheat code before the game and the Texans had no answer but sunday to sunday.... they are going to be favorites if healthy.

Yes, Percy Harvin is a great shout for MVP currently - finally realising the talent we all thought/knew he had.

The majority of the credit for Percy Harvin has to go to the OC as we have been ridiculously creative in getting to PH as much as possible.

Obviously, Harvin is the person making the plays but you can't make them if AP is rushing 24/7.

Now, if Ponder can get back to his 0 INT performances... Vikings for most surprising team to make playoffs?

No - purely because as improved as they are from last season, they will still (IMO) lose most of their remaining Divisional games and fall a game or two short of a WC slot - cant see them finishing above the Bears or the Packers.

Did Harvin not have bad migraine/concussion issues of the past few years? If so, they certainly have been sorted and it shows what the Vikings have been missing!
