Would picking your backup WRs as KRs help? I think it would but not entirely certain.

Yes - this would result in the same effect.

So the idea is that I might have 3 very good CBs or WRs that I want in the primary rotation and then I only want to call on the other "backup" CBs and WRs as formations/injuries demand.

Just put them in the KR position. If I understand this correctly then if they arent in the WR DC then they wont get added unless there is a shortage and then the engine pickes the best fit which is the WR sat at KR. I may be wrong but Im sure Pete can clear that up for you

Now that is probably a good idea - can't see why that wouldn't work.

I'll try it and report back here.

Think the way to do this would be to mark players as 'injury cover'.

For example, you put 55 players on the depth chart including 3 QBs. However the 3rd QB is marked as 'injury cover' so wouldn't play - it would just be the first two QBs rotating.

However if one got injured then the 3rd QB would replace them.

You could name 4 QBs on the DC with QB3 and QB4 marked as injury cover. If a QB got injured then QB3 would come into the game and if a second QB got injured then QB4 would come into the game.

Not a bad idea.
Just have a little checkbox in the DC for every player to mark them as such. This box could be ticked in manually or if you have a 55 man DC, every new player added would be ticked in automatically as an injury cover.

I would say: Do the dirty way.

Make your normal DC and put all "injury reserve players" as 3rd, 4th ... Kicker on the DC and never substitute the kicker.

Sarcasm or no sarcasm; be careful with such statements or nobody want to help you in the future any more.

I have no problem to share some ideas, but than these advices are for all and not for exclusive managers.

That will happen anyway due to competitiveness.

Most importantly, there'll always be plenty of people around willing to talk shop. And more importantly, point out to you how smart they are and how silly you are! It just works!

Does this actually work?

I have been working on the assumption that if there is not a player listed at a position on the DC and the engine needs to make a substitution it is random.

In other words, in this example -

I have 3WR on the DC listed at the WR position and 2 more WR listed only as KR on the DC.

If I use a 4WR set, how does the engine pick the remaining WR to use?

I read the manual to say that it will pick the 4th randomly from ALL available players on my DC, and not that it will look for WR listed at other positions and use them first. So it might pick one of those WR listed as KR or it might just pick one of your OL.

If it would actually pick the one of the WR listed only as KR first, how does it choose which one?

I have to say if this does work there are going to be a ton of players listed at K for my team's all new DC!
