Finding caps is priority, for sure. In other case you can build OL who has 15-20 in primary skills at 18, but you find his strength caps at 37...
It's also better to build players for positions which are harder to draft. Definetely not QB or K/P. |

I disagree that I'd build a QB through the YA though. They go for so cheap on the TM its hardly worth the effort. I was going to create a QB from my YA this season but, after picking up a 21yo draft QB for 4.5mil, I'm converting him into a DT. And by the time he's 22 he'll comfortably be draft quality. Draft 21 QB ~5mil Draft 22 DT with good physicals and INT/TW ~40-50mil I think the best players to build in your YA are the ones that go for lots of money on the TM: OL (they're hard to draft as well so a big ) and Defenders Last edited on 2013-10-26 11:24:27 by holmeboy |

Maybe you misunderstood my post at some point... |

If you can get a youth with good str/spd combo, then by all means, build a LB in the YA. However, I haven't often been able to get the combination I need at LB, so have settled for building players than require only one high physical skill (OLs, WRs, K/P, DBs mostly).
I built a QB in the YA at the very start of the game and it worked out pretty well. But the dynamics of the game are different now and I wouldn't be pouring my YA pts into a QB, especially not for re-sale. Steve SD Blitz |

My advice would be to be extremely fussy when creating your YA. With only 22 spaces available you can overload on players gambling that a few might make the first team.

This looks like you mean to say that low TW players make good wr/rb/db, but i thought low TW players were always throwaways.
Should I keep players with low TW? holmeboy wrote:
They way I plan on doing mine: I'll only pull 16 year olds (maybe a really good 17 yo, pulled one 50/47 tw/int 17yo this yr) then set them to train physicals: High TW low INT - Train str for ol/dl line Low TW high INT - Train spd for wr/rb/db High TW high INT - both for LB/TE Their 'main' physical should be nearly capped by the time they turn 18 (2 years), so they still have 2.5 years in YA - rest of 18, 19, 20. I'll train up their secondary physicals a bit and then start on skills. Assuming most players have 3 primary skills (eg tackling, vision, position for lb) on their own they should get 1.5 of them to ~20 mark. So with the YA points (I only use on 20yo) in theory I'm hoping to be bringing up 2 draft level players and 1/2 solid young backups a year. The guys who don't reach the INT/TW requirements I plan on training up and selling if they cap high. Or cutting if need more room. |
