I think that a split of the competition after adding level 4 would be good.

Level 1-3 (1792 teams) play in the SC 1 in 128 divisions with each 14 teams (=13 games). The winner and runnerup of every division (256 teams) go to the playoffs and play in 8 playoffsrounds.

Level 4 (2048) play with the actual mode in SC 2. 16 teams in 128 groups. The 64 best teams play in the playoffs in 6 playoff games. If you add Level 5 (4096 teams) you can add 128 more groups (256 divisions). Still 64 teams play in the playoffs of the SC 2.

I had a similar idea of having more than one SC competition. However, my idea had an equal number of teams from each level in the groups. For example, using Buffalo's numbers for 2 SC groups this would currently mean 896 teams from levels 1-3. And when level 4 comes 1024 additional teams in each group. When level 5 comes then they would also get split.

This could even get extended to 4 or more SC groups when more levels are added.

If we have a few additional game days, we could even have a super supercup playoff where the winners of the groups play each other.

And this brings me to my next idea regarding additional game days. What about Fridays? That would add a lot of game days.

If you want to keep a free friendly day, maybe Wednesday or Sunday could be used. My reason for not wanting an official game on Wednesday or Sunday is because of the training update. Some managers might not be able to get online to make depth chart adjustments if key injuries occur.

So, I am not 100% sure I like this idea because we already have so many official games each week. But it could be one part of a solution.

The best solution for the moment could be replacing gameday #16, the wild card round, with a real playoff day, this allowed 64 teams, and moving the final bowl one gameday, to the thursday before COfC-Bowl...makes 128 teams in the playoffs. But still it would mean "not the first of each division enters the playoffs", it means "the best 128 teams overall enter the playoffs"...

I know this will increase the discussion, but it would be nice if the actual RATING would be enhanced to cover league AND supercup and THEN the best whatevernumberofteams go into the playoffs.

That might be, and I think the ranking formular had to be

- changed, to cover the team-played-team-which-played-team-depth
- open for review, so nobody could argue it's shit, since if you don't like, it, ... suggest an enhancement.

Still, this would bring ALL regular games in perspective and close games vs tough opponents would mean a lot more than today.

So basically I'm suggesting a TOP64 or TOP128 as in college and we THEN do a playoff.

Are you proposing that as the playoff for the SC or as a tiebreaker instead of PD?

Is there any way the league bye could be used in some way?

Good luck working that out because unless you put all the games together and have no bye week for everyone that would be nigh on impossible to work out.

Okay, so if the only possible reduction is to 8 teams I'll bring up that old(maybe not so old) proposal of having an extra competition for the people that don't qualify to the POs.

Again, I won't use the exact numbers and I'll use the system that is in use for handball and basketball competitions on a global/continental scale.

So you have 224 "qualifying" division with 8 teams. The top 4 go on to the next round with 4 teams in 224 groups of which the top team and 32 lucky losers qualifying for the knock out phase. 18 game days in total.

For the teams that do no qualify to the next stage you could run a simultaneous system but playing for the 897th spot or just another round of 7 games just for fun.

This is, in my opinion, the most sensible suggestion that I read so far. Not only would it cut down the boring first stage, it would also make the second stage very entertaining. Yet it won't be necessary to lengthen the season, nor would it put any underdeveloped teams under financial disadvantage.
