Another lb I have has 40 tackle, 36 vision, and 27 positioning and similar physicals (is actually stronger by 4) and was 69% tackle rate. The only difference is the position they play. Desimone plays mlb and Barber players olb. Do you think that would make a difference in tackle %? My two best % tackle rate lb are both mlb by a substantial margin. The second lb is inferior to the olb but tackle % is better. What is puzzling is my DE have better tackle rate than my dt. Most of my safety/cb have 100% tackle rate from official games last season.

My MLB tackles in the 90% range whereas by OLBs and backups tackle in the 65-75% range. Just another data point.

I think you have to go strictly with the % rate of tackling as a barometer. A poor d line will give lb's more tackle opportunities and by the same token a great d line (mine) gives me fewer tackling opportunities.

I was going with that barometer, just brought up # of plays because you mentioned them, I agree with what you said about better DL not giving as much tackling opportunities as a less DL.

Let me add Monkey's player to the mix.

29.3 Tackling - 1322 Plays - 147 Tackles - 24 Missed - 86%
28.6 Tackling - 1410 Plays - 110 Tackles - 36 Missed - 75.3%
38.8 Tackling - 1009 Plays - 100 Tackles - 16 Missed - 86.2%
42 Tackling - 1375 Plays - 120 Tackles - 9 Missed - 93%
27.5 Tackling - 943 Plays - 101 Tackles - 12 Missed - 89.4%

I'm actually thinking I'll switch my mlb and olb on depth chart. Might help me overall. Both have 50 intelligence. Makes no difference in that regard.

i can help here as my MLB for season 4 moved to OLB for season 5 to make room for my previously mentioned player.

in season 4 he had

31 games, 911 plays, 117 good, 19 bad, 86%

in season 5 he had

30 games, 951 plays, 73 good, 22 bad, 76.8%

I guess that could be down to variables an OLB can tackle at the line behind the line or in open field which is where any limitations to speed are exposed. Where a MLB if you step outside him youre likely to hit the OLB

The MLB usualy does it all, they need to stop the RB if he passes the DL, go for a Blitz or drop in cover in the safe guarding the middle of the field. A OLB is usualy used to cover the TE or the RB (RB option doesn't happen in RZA for sure) on pass plays or go for a QB blitz. But naturaly this is all assumptions and are totally dependent on formations and how RZA uses them.

SF and CB dont have to make many tackles due to the nature of the game last season so their tackle rate is usually 100% because of how little they are used.

Well last season combined my entire backfield missed 5 tackles and had 365 tackles made! And I can tell you the higher any of them as in Tackling is 18...

My worst SF had 94.4% tackle success rate last season but that said he missed 1 of 18 tackles.
