I think it would be good to have an additional entry in the playbooks for the field position - "< 3".
This then gives us 2 regions near the goal line - inside the 3 (the 1 and 2yd lines) and inside the 5 (the 3 and 4 yd lines). This would make for a little more finesse down on the goal line! 
Also, a way to have 100-95 (or 100-90) at the other end so the D can blitz for safeties and the O can probably use goal running. |

My suggestion is actually about field position rather than distance to go but there is a sort of overlap. It is possible to be 3rd and 1 but be on the 4yd line so distance to the first down marker is not enough. For example, you might have - Goal D for < 3 5-3 for < 5 4-4 for < 10 or Goal O for < 3 Big-I for < 5 As I said, just a little more finesse for stuff close to the endzones. |
