If there would be a smiley like I would understand this...Why should you keep such a question for you? Thanks. I'll be more cautious next time as to what I can ask in this forum and what I rather keep to myself. I think maybe because the answer was in the news section and the OP hadn't checked it not because the OP wants to keep a secret. Remember is better to look stupid and ask the question than to keep it to yourself and never know the answer |

check the news more often Just because I couldn't find it anywhere...did the draft scouting procedure change? I scouted all of the draftees, then I downloaded the CSV file and for the first time ever, I now have all their skills in the file. Are those the real skills or do I still need to overwrite them with the skills from the scouting report? Hmmm, nobody is really at fault here. However, it is no wonder that Spiff could not find the information ... and he did say he looked for it before posting a question. I did not find the information in the news. However, the manual does mention that the CSV file contains the skills. However, this might not be clear. The fact that canonico only found the information in the change log (good detective work there) and not in the news leads me to the following two suggestions. 1. Since not everyone can log in every day, and the Block of Granite blog is often the first thing you see when you log in, and you have to scroll down about a mile to see if there was any news posted before that, and if the blog is to stay on the opening page, I suggest that Jack write a short one or two sentence excerpt for the Block of Granite blog and then a link to the full blog itself. Sorry for the long sentence. In other words, the news on the start up page often gets lost because of the very long blog. So either remove it or include only a very short excerpt with a link to the blog. 2. The manual was updated in two places regarding the scouting reports for draft players being free so this should be OK and it was not part of the question. And as I mentioned above the skills are also mentioned for the CSV file. However, I suggest adding the following to the manual in the Draft section in the paragraph talking about downloading the CSV file: "After scouting the players in the draft, the CSV file contains the skills of the players. As always, the accuracy of the scouting reports with respect to the skills depends on the level of your scout." No criticism is intended towards anyone, and I am just trying to help. Cheers to all. I think Jacks blog is the first thing I see most days. I'm not complaining as it's a good read but I then go into the game myself so I don't see the news either. But saying that I knew about the csv files as I had read it elsewhere. Again I am not pointing fingers or apportioning blame just commenting that Jacks block of granite blog is usually the first thing I see when I log in |

To be fair ... I'd agree the News is pretty easy to miss.
I think I missed it as well - was only when I saw the download option on the draft page when I went looking for it. I think the front page - should automatically direct to the latest News items. On a personal note I (and I would suspect a lot of non US users) aren't interested in the college game so to be honest see the blog as pretty much spam as its not in any way connected to the game so pretty much bypass the front. Obviously a lot of people are interested in it - not dissing the blog - but it should be a link not the first thing people see. |
