It is quite similar for me. I lost league games close I expected to win...It got better with taking the safeties away from heavy blitzing, but this is not the full story...

i havent blitzed ever in over a year lol and use 2 SF formations where possible(giving up 6-7 yards per carry when using 4-3 defence means i cant do it more) but still find theres no safeties in the region of the pass to often. gonna close the bar while the games are playing to stop them taking guinness breaks mid game

@ Monkey: I can't believe you are 2-4 in League. Your team is pretty solid.

How many players are you using on defense? Your defensive ratings look a bit low, which leads me to wonder if you have too many players on your Depth Chart.

For example: Against good opponents, I use
10 DL (I could probably go with 8 or 9)
5 LB
3 CB (There is a big drop in talent to my #4)
4 SF

That means I have to train PC a few extra times, but it also means my best players are on the field. I used to play a deeper DC, but found my results improved with a leaner meaner DC.

got a full DC of 55 and QB is the only position i dont substitute.

DC is:
QB 2 (1 draft)
HB 3 (2 draft)
FB 2 (1 draft)
TE 4 (2 draft)
WR 5 (0 draft(1 was moved to TE))
OL 11 (2 draft)
DL 10 (3 draft)
LB 8 (4 draft)
CB 5 (1 draft)
SF 4 (1 draft)
K/P 2 (1 draft)

1 TE is my #5 WR

Unless those TEs, WRs, OL, DL and LB are all really good, I'd say you have a bit of a dilution problem. You are also not concentrating EXP in your best players.

I think energy can be over rated in this game. I think that just a bit of a break for most players is enough.

The Fives won the SC with 5 OL, 2 TEs, 3 CB, 3 SF and 5 LBs.

i never used to sub my QBs in last engine but its more important now i feel. sub 3rd Q if at 75% works for me but i do have 4 QBs of similar standard.

I used a nil playbook today with match settings only. i used kick field goal when distance is <40m or 2 yrds to go.

however on opp. 37 he punted; on opp 31; on opp. 29; on opp. 30; on opp 5 kicks FG for 22 yrds (17 mtres back from line) etc etc.

so basically <40 is actually opp 27m yrd line?

To be exact it was <23 opp yard line. I think it was confusing for you that in the match settings you have to choose the distence for the FG and in the playbook the position on the field on 4th down.

so my DC

QB - 2
HB - 3 + 1 FB AS HB
FB - 2 + 2 HB AS FB
TE - 3 + 2 WR AS TE
WR - 5 + 2 TE AS WR
OL - 11
DL - 9
LB - 8
CB - 5 + 1 LB AS CB
SF - 5
K - 1
P - 1
75 %
and NO not to substitute option.
