As what i have seen of that game, I think that redskins Coach should be punished by the NFL.

I'm not sure if that QB should have played at all, but latest in the second quarter, when he started limping, he should have been pulled.

Even today with that advanced medic treatments, a blown knee is a blown knee. Stupid.

+1
I know RGIII wanted to be on the field, but everybody could see that he was 50 % at best...this guy maybe ruined his health and career by playing to the end...Shanahan should be by the fans

These discussions keep raging. I'm tired of them, but I'm glad to see most people here agree with me. It was a blunder all the way round with nothing to gain. And now they're trying to put a lid on it.
Funny thing is, Redskins fans (the ones I talked to) are defending the decision to the death

Soon as he went over in the 2nd quarter, RGIII should have been pulled and Cousins takes over - 14-0 up, still with all the momentum, and a QB who is not limited to making one step drop passes and not even being able to hand the ball off properly to Morris, having to toss the ball to him.

Cousins at best would still be able to hand off, make some PA passes and keep the Seattle D honest - and we saw against the Ravens and Browns that Cousins is no mug under centre either.

I can understand RGIII wanting to stay in the game - he is QB and Leader and feels he is the one pulling the strings of the team - and yes, to a point hes right. But Shanahan needed to see what was blindlingly obvious until it was too late and do the right thing.

How the game would have panned out if he did is anyones guess - but we wouldnt be now looking at major surgery for our QB who is supposed to be leading our team for the next 10 seasons or so - not a 1 season wonder.

People keep drawing comparisons to AP and how he came back and enjoyed a career season - huge difference - RGIII has ALREADY undergone one big ACL surgery and simply speaking is not as tough and battle hardened as AP.

Its a desperate shame because no matter what you think of the Redskins as a team, no one can doubt the sheer talent that RGIII is - some will say it was just a matter of time before it happened - maybe, maybe not - but this could have been avoided and for that only one person is culpable for. Screw what the Doctor says Shanahan....what did your eyes tell you? If you say that kid was playing 100% and was right to be out there, then get out of Coaching. For the Redskins players sake if no one elses.

One other thing that even i could not defend, being the most ardent of Washington fans. The state of the Fedex Field pitch? What the hell was that all about? Ive seen some dodgy pitches in my life - playing on them and at the Baseball Ground, which at times resembled a field in a not very well maintained farm - but that was atrocious and screamed out torn ligaments and high ankle sprains. Players wearing nearly 1 inch cleats?????

The NFL should come down hard on the Skins for that, there is no doubt. It was a shocker.

Well said. I've heard some Redskins fans say you wouldn't have had a chance with Cousins and he proved it when he came in. I think all the fight went out of the team when RG3 collapsed and Cousins never had a chance. If he'd had some time to grow into the game I'm sure he would have passed better than Rg3 was doing.
I hope the injury isn't too bad. The Skins were fun to watch this season, even for a Giants fan.

Ask those fans who rallied the Redskins when RGIII first went down and lead them to a come from behind win against the SuperBowl contending Ravens? Or who lead the Skins to a dominant victory in a must win game against the Browns?

Remember, Shanahan DRAFTED Cousins in the 4th round after trading up for RGIII to be his backup - ive heard several times that if Washington wasnt in playoff contention, RGIII wouldve been placed on IR for this season after going down against the Ravens and Cousins would have played the season out.

Coming in 24-14 down with 5 mins to go deep in your own half - sorry, but Peyton Manning or Tom -G.O.A.T- wouldnt have turned that around. Or bring him in at the start of the second quarter after we had blown the Seahawks out of the sky and were 14-0 up with all the momentum. We'd have had a fighting chance, even leaning (more) on Morris. RGIII COULDNT HAND OFF to Morris - if Cousins didnt pass all game he would have at least have been able to do that.

All conjecture now - but RGIII played a half between the first knock in the game and the one that saw him off the field - and we were still winning 14-13 as the 4th quarter started and very much in the game. The Head Coach with all his experience should have known what the rookie, all heart and emotion, never could.

Wow. Everyone in the organization is covering their own ass, and nobody seems to give a frig about RG3. I'm losing what little respect I had for the Skins fast.

I agree that the Redskins have been good to watch. I can't remember the opponents it may have been the Eagles but RG III and as he went down he threw a lateral almost over his shoulder then it was run in for the score. At first I was thinking what a cheeky b****** then after a little bit of reflection you just have to admire the guys awareness of who is around him to pull off that kind of play.

AP may be battle hardened but he is also beaten. I think RG III will lose some mobility which is to be expected but he has a great arm and awareness to still transform himself into a great pocket passer.
