I'm just wondering if a "Missed Block" is a completely missed block. Is it possible that a very agile DL beats an OL cold and so not even a "Missed Block" is registered.
And so does this mean that a "Missed Block" actually means that the OL got a small piece of a DL but had little effect but not none at all? |

right, we have basically 3 types of results for blocks
missed, blocked and pancake. So missed is consisting of "never had any chance" until "Damn, so close - but even not successful" |

What is the functional difference between blocked and pancaked? The DL can still make a tackle if blocked, but not pancaked?

thats how i understand it Steve.
If pancaked, the defender will have to get off his a$$ to make a tackle. |

That was sort of the point of my question.
I assume a block delays a DL for time x, a pancake for > x. So my question was does even a missed block delay a DL for a duration < x and > 0 Also we get stuff like this - 1:48 2 and 4 to go on opp 31, Salim ben Mohamed Alouini (OC) snaps the ball to Javier Comstock (QB), who hands off to Emmitt Brantley (HB/R), this seems to be a run over the right guard, Ákos Jámbor (DE/L) breaks through, Dewayne Whiteside (TE/R) blocks, Emmitt Brantley (HB/R) tackled by Ákos Jámbor (DE/L), forward progress: tackle for loss of 1 yards (Pro set vs. 3-3-5) So the DE was blocked but made the tackle for a loss anyway! |

Im sure ive read Admin state that the TE will engage the DE but not stop the DE breaking through. More like change the route of the pass rush |

A pancake is quite similar to "take the blocked guy off the play", while "blocked" just means "interrupt his actions for short moments"
