I agree with the primary post in theory. I think the game allows for TEs to block on runs after the initial checks from the OL... but the FB should be by necessity of football used in all run block formations.
I say i agree in theory what the primary post addressed because I'm not sure that the actual game mechanics reflect what was addressed. I'm not sure if 4W shotgun sets have more of an advantage running the ball because of the deficiencies of the blocking mechanics and not because opposing defenses choose to focus on the pass when presented with a Shotgun formation. If running out of 4W is more successful because of the latter than I just chalk it up to good strategy... but if its because of the former then it is indeed an issue worth discussing. |
