Did a quick search and couldn't find this, but I'm curious to know how many lines you guys are putting into your offensive playbook?

Been more concerned with building a decent squad over the last 2 seasons and now I'm just started putting a bit of time into my playbooks. Atm I have a base of ~50 lines but feel like it's nowhere near completed and will end up having >100...

Wonder if anyone else is the same or if I'm thinking too deep into things...

IMO -

Game settings for the bulk

Playbook for the bits and pieces.

The most important function of the PB is punting/kicking/going for it on 4th down, followed by leading/trailing late.

And OT probably

Wow. Didn't expect to see that...

Originally I was planning to make a 'base' for each quater, but the first quarter ran up to 50 lines (well 45ish minus the punting/kicking) so would have been ~200 before adding in ahead/behind, clock etc.

So just made that 50ish a base for the game and then planned add on others once I have it working as I'd like. Because felt like have >300-400 would make it hard to tweak for different games.

Think this could become an interesting thread now...

I, more-or-less, agree with Hosh.

Although agreeing with Hosh suggests that maybe I'm not feeling too well

I think of the Playbook as like writing a Computer Program .... if you keep it small and simple, there is less chance of a 'bug', and finding any bugs/glitches will be quicker/easier.

One of the posts in another thread about PB's suggested starting out with a few plays at a time. Then just adding more plays as you go along. which works well i think

It gets frightening just thinking about a huge PB and then adding to it and wondering if you put the new stuff in the right place (order).

Easy to stuff that up.

I think it's best to have a basic PB that does all the necessary stuff properly, and then maybe throw some special stuff in temporarily for special opponents/games for a bit of a change-up.

i usually tailor my offensive playbook to situations. The default first down settings i leave random on 2 set formations but for every other situation i have a playbook entry.

Going to quote myself from the seadevils forum because asked the question there as well:

I'm surprised you have so huge playbooks. Mine is 25-30 (depending on the game) offensive and up to 15 defensive.

So do you use the game settings, a few lines for punting/ahead/behind etc and then a few opponent specific lines?

That's interesting... I've always just used the playbook, never the game settings. Today is probably the first game I've have >10 lines lol.

My defensive playbook is 13 lines and plays pretty straight forward as you can see from my games. I like the freedom it gives with tweaks being so small. Thats why I asked the question about lines because feel like I'm doing too much and it'd be an absolute pain to tweak versus different opponents...

I might test out the game settings in the supercup/friendlies...

The more I think of it the more I'm leaning towards Hosh having the right idea... Just seems impossible to manage and tweak a large pb.

I'll be giving both methods a go anyway so I'll see which performs better for me and my team
