Okay this just came to me; ive noticed in the match settings the longest distance a kicker is allowed to kick a field goal is under 50 yards; that means that my team has to get to the 32 before a field goal will be attempted on 4th down. My question is; if i want the kicker to attempt a field goal on 4th down but a longer range say 55 yards through the game no matter the score; but then lets say im behind by 4 with under 2 minutes left in the game so i have to score a touchdown so i set a 4th down 4th quarter; under 2 minute rule to only throw passes the entire time; will that rule activate instead of a similar rule but a different time rule?

Basically i want to have my kicker always attempt 55 yard field goals; unless a field goal will not help in the 4th with under 2 minutes

Have something like this in your playbook:

4 4 any <40 behind 1-3 <2min any fieldgoal only middle
4 4 any any behind 4-6 <2min S4WR pass all directions
4 4 any any behind 7-11 <2min S4WR pass all directions
4 4 any <40 any <2min any fieldgoal only middle

If you're behind 1-3 points you'll kick a FG (max 56 yarder), if you're behind 4-11 points you'll throw a pass (from whatever formation you set to wherever you set it to throw) and if you're behind 11+ or leading you'll kick a FG (max 56 yarder) for extra PD.

well thats the thing; my match settings is to kick a field goal on 4th down; <40 yards; and the punt team came on the field in the last game i played; ill show you the play:

Q1: 9:22 Jermaine Mcgee (P) punts the ball from opp 23 for 46, this is a touchback

if my match settings were set to attempt a field goal shouldnt that have been a field goal attempt? or would i have had to reach the 22. I was under the impression that the distance for the attempt was from the line of scrimmage as in if the LOS was the OPP 40 or closer

That depends on where you set your fieldgoal rule:
- if it was in the gamesettings for the match, then whatever value you set i.e. <40 then you will kick fieldgoals 39 yards and less. So being on the 23 yard line you just got into the 40 yard range and "didn"t have any instructions to kick a FG" thus punting.
- if you have the <40 rule in your playbook, then you should be kicking fieldgoals up to the 56 yard limit. If you have the playbook rule I suggest you check it with the PB checker, maybe you have a sorting issue, somthing is above the rule and it doesn't activate properly.

I was under the impression that both settings (playbook and game settings) were referring to the LOS, not the distance of the kick? So if you have a "<40" set in the playbook (or game setting), you will kick whenever your 4th down LOS is at the 39 yard line or closer. If you for instance get stopped at the 35, you will attempt the 35+17=52 Yard FG.

Is that not so?

That is correct.

The distance in the playbook refers to the LOS - not the total distance of the FG to incorporate the 17 yards for the snap and the EndZone.

So if you say FG <40 on any 4th down, it will attempt a FG from the 40 downwards, but from 41 upwards you will punt. The '40 yard FG' thus becomes a 57 yard attempt. You miss and the opposition gains the ball on the 47 yard line.

Is it from the 40 or 39 yard line? Originally that particular play didn't include the 40 yard line. There was a suggestion to change this but I am not sure if it has been done.

It doesn't include the 40, as it's <40 ........ and to include the 40 it would need to be <= 40 ........ hopefully, it won't be changed as Pedants like me think it's technically correct the way it is .......... it was just some Forum whiners who couldn't understand basic schoolboy maths formulae & notations .... so their tough luck methinks
