I've disliked the Niners since the late 80s when they won too often...

C'mon Ravens!

lol, that is a strange phenomenon isn't it? When the Patriots won the first superbowl with -G.O.A.T- they were the darlings in America. Now....not so much. It is an odd thing that the more a team wins the more they are disliked...

It's quite normal here in the UK to cheer for the underdogs.

Teams who win too much often get resented. And people who support the teams that win often get ridiculed as 'glory hunters'. Most kids who learned about American Football in the 80s, when it 1st became popular, only did so by watching the Superbowl... and overnight they became experts because they had seen 1 game. The most popular teams suddenly became the 49ers, Redskins, Bears and Dolphins (due to Dan Marino). There were 3 of us who actually played the game and followed it closely at our school - I was an Eagles fan, another lad liked the Oilers, and the 3rd was a Bengals fan.

And people who support perennial losers also get ridiculed.

So nobody at our school was a Falcons fan in the late 80s... or Chiefs.. or Packers.
