There have been some discussions on wage management for franchise tag players, but what about the vast majority of your starters that will probably be signing 2 year contracts. When is the optimal time to sign them to that 2 year contract?
Maybe train them to about 37 max skill and then sign them at ~$50K wage? Then if they are in their last contract, you train them as high as possible. Otherwise train to about 42-43 max skill and maybe you can handle a ~125-150k two year extension? Steve SD Blitz |

Steve SD Blitz Imho it depends on the currents skills, and the way you plan to train him. Wages under skill 40 remain under 100k, but from 40 to 50 they increase to 500k. The slope is big. So if you increase the highest skill from 40, it is a good idea to sign at 40. If you plan to gradually increase all of the skills, wages will not grow so much. So it is not urgent to sign. Eg.: you plan to train secondary skill to catch up primary. Generally speaking, I think it is a good idea to sign before you plan to train the highest skill. |

Yeah...I'm still wondering what salary level a top league team can support over the long haul.
