A few months ago it seemed that it took a week to get just a few new managers.

Now each week we seem to get 10+ managers and i would just like to say its really nice to see the game growing at this increased pace.

I know there will be some managers that give up fairly quickly, so does anyone have any ideas to help new mangers stay around longer.

I think it would be good for new managers who havent got there full manager licence to have a (Tips) tab at the top of each page which once pressed brings up all relavant infomation about the page they are on rather than having to search the manual every couple of minutes.

Examples: If they are making there DC they can click the TIPS tab and it will bring up the information about how the engine selects players and give them a rough idea about what skills are required for certain positions.
example2: when they start to create there playbook I think it would be really helpful to have a visual demo what shows them how to create plays and the way that depending on the order you put the plays in determines which plays take priority.

I'm not really paying any attention to the growing number of managers, but if it's true what you say (and I suppose it is) then it's very good news indeed and I can only hope they'll stick around.

The more the merrier.

I think the best ways to get people to stick around are -

1/ a much better and comprehensive match engine (hard)

2/ A stronger starting team (not so hard)

I think a person's motivation to find stuff and work the sorts of things out that you're referring to are related to the above.

I try to catch new (danish)managers early, by keeping an eye on who joins and are online, and offer my assistance. It seems about 80% go bot after a few logins, and I wonder if they have have some expectations that are not being met.

I dont think its possible to change the bot ratio alot, but believes its important for those managers, who actually wants to play this game, to feel welcome in the community.

I personally think the tools to learn the game is in place, but of course they may be hard to find for new managers.

Yes, just a matter of motivation.

I think the 2 sorts of people who leave either see too much or not enough.

Just for your reference, this is what we do so far to make it a bit more easier to new managers (I list that because some of you might not know single options out of the list

1.) License
2.) Ingame Welcome mail with some links
3.) Standard playbook for a quick start, including a hidden Playbook-page the manager has to enable to see the full "drama"

What we do to learn about expectations: we ask each leaving manager to fill a query, just to learn what we did wrong.

Out of around 200 feedbacks given, the most important reason for leaving the game is "I don't have enough time to play the thing", followed by several reasons like not fulfilled expectations.

@Hosh: I doubt the new manager is login in, playing the first game, and then thinks "Uh, what an engine...I will leave". A good portion new managers don't even watch the first game. That means to me, we lose them because they had a complete different thing in mind when joining the game. Maybe something like a full flash Madden...And in this case they are just the wrong audience, and the right thing to do for them is leaving.

A great man was heard to say -

"And in this case they are just the wrong audience, and the right thing to do for them is leaving."
