Increased FB value in new engine?

I was extremely pleased to notice my FB's performance during my last league game. I admit, the opponent was not the very best, however, this stat line stood out.

I played a total of 43 downs passing from shotgun formations, and my main FB ended up with 14 (!) good blocks. Has anyone else noticed an increase in FB blocking, or was it just a lucky day?

I'd say a bad day for your O-line letting all those pass rushers through.

A good day for your FB.

Check out Raiders Tirol in Sea Devils 1.1, his FB frequently got ~20 good blocks in a game iirc.

Thx for the good tip. You are right, he's got a ton of good blocks, although his STR is rather poor. However, he's got good BLO skill and Blocking back trait.

To my knowledge pass rushers do constantly break through the OL, and it doesn't necessarily indicate a weak OL. Usually this won't result in QB sacks, but if at all, in QB hurries (or so I assume, since there is no evidence for hurries, unfortunately).

I figure a good blocking FB may increase the chances to pick up a blitzing player, reduce hurries, and improve a QB's completion rate.

Not to mention blitzing LB/SFs

IMO it works like this:

with the pash rushers I mean the DE and they don't always break through as can been seen in the next 2 plays:

14:45 2 and 10 to go on own 27, Fredrik Rocchi (OC) snaps the ball to Rachid Tak (QB), Rachid Tak (QB) selected Albrecht Schwarz (TE/R) as target, the pass goes inner right to the receiver, incomplete, overthrown, no progress (Pro set vs. 4-3-4) more

12:12 1 and 10 to go on own 12, Fredrik Rocchi (OC) snaps the ball to Rachid Tak (QB), Rachid Tak (QB) selected Todd Kozlowski (WR/L) as target, the receiver can not catch this inner left pass, incomplete, no progress (Shotgun 4 WR vs. 4-3-4) more

while your FB blocked 2 DE's:

14:53 1 and 10 to go on own 27, Fredrik Rocchi (OC) snaps the ball to Rachid Tak (QB), Rachid Tak (QB) selected Todd Kozlowski (WR/L) as target, Trajko Stojsic (DE/R) breaks through the line, Djamil Yaseen (FB/R) blocks, the receiver can not catch this inner left pass, incomplete, no progress (Shotgun 4 WR vs. 4-3-4

11:30 1 and 10 to go on own 22, Fredrik Rocchi (OC) snaps the ball to Rachid Tak (QB), Rachid Tak (QB) selected Zuberi Sylla (WR/R) as target, Bolaji Okeke (DE/R) breaks through the line, Djamil Yaseen (FB/R) blocks, this outer right pass goes to the receiver, who catches the ball, Živanko Randjelovic (CB/L) missed the tackle, Todor Antic (FS/L) made the tackle, forward progress: 11 yards, New first down (Shotgun 4 WR vs. 4-3-4) more

so to me it's definitely an O-Line problem. You can also see it in the stats. Who were the OT's in the plays where the DE broke through:

Khasib Khalil (OT/L), Rachard Young (OT/R),
Khasib Khalil (OT/L), Rachard Young

Stats in the game:

Young: 46 good blocks, 30 missed blocks
Khalil: 38 good blocks, 38 missed blocks

if they wouldn't have missed a single block, your FB would have had 0 blocks unless the opponent used blitzing plays.

of course problem is a little bit exaggerated. But there's a clear positive correlation between missed blocks of the OL and blocks your TE & FB made imo (just checked it on 2 of my games one against a decent opponent and one against a bot).

You are right, of course. If anyone had a perfect OL, then there would not be any need for a blocking FB to pick up the pieces.

I just meant that I have had the same problem in 100 other games before the last one (that we are discussing here), albeit without a FB stepping up to the plate. I was being used to about 2-3 good FB blocks, but never ever 14 in total.

Possibly it was just a good day of my FB, but since I have never had such a great amount of FB blocks I was just wondering if there are any changes in the new engine that emphasize FB contribution.

On the other hand, my TE are still not much involved in blocking at all. In all official games they only add up to about 5-6 good blocks, among all of them.
