Or how about instead of an overhaul, we test 1/2 small tweaks (like whats been mentioned) to the current system and go from there?

I think the two main problems with the current system that keep popping up are (please correct if I'm wrong):

1) People can't be online at the time bids are ending.

2) Bid wars that last 30/40 mins past the deadline.

A suggestion to improve point 2 is in the thread. I'm not sure about point one.

Sorry but how could you say there is more dissent with the current TM system?

There was no poll or survey about the current TM system. The poll for the Trade market wasn´t about a replacement of the current system too.

So you couldn´t say there is more dissent with the current TM system.

Thats because there never was a proposal for the current system... It was the default so people had no choice but to conform to it in whatever way.

but look I'm not even trying to get into the merits or whatever of the current system. Its flat out bogus and just because people have acquiesced to it because of familiarity doesnt make it any more better for those of us who dont like to operate off of stop watches.

In response to Toni Gorilla

There have been countless suggestions made towards a new or revamped TM system but EVERY SINGLE TIME there is always one issue that stops the conversation in its tracks or other more "pressing" matters take precedent.

I could be wrong on this but I dont think I'm that far off... but the guys who sustain good teams and are competitive throughout all competitions in this game are VERY active on the TM. Its basically the only part of the game that isnt operational in the privacy of our own team functions and sphere. Its a personal opinion on whether or not a manager has an issue with the current system... It is NOT a personal opinion to say that all of us have equal chance in the TM. It will never be an equal chance, I know that, but there ways to make it better and we had one ready and set...

Oh and in response to the two bid system. If I can recall that was the original intent, to see how we all felt about having the systems as well as a to compare and contrasting in live action to see what the faults of either system were. And eventually seeing which one won out if an overwhelming majority focused on one instead of the other.

Once voted, we should try a new TM system for an entire season and see if it works better. If it does not, again let the community decide, then we could switch back to the former system.

I open to check a new, or even any new system but i do not like this part Toni!

Why not have 2 systems parallel, so in case the "new one fails total" still have the already known as backup possible?

Fair enough, why not.

My cardinal complaint was that we only had ONE new system to vote for. I was actually one of the players that called out for some new system, and I still think a different mechanism may work better. However, many managers just did not like the Trade style (3-4 days, Veto, etc.), because it seems too time consuming and complicated.

can't we insert an upper limit for a player?

So that when you're offline, you keep on bidding until you've hit this limit.

e.g.

it's 1 pm and the transfer deadline for player X is 6 pm.

the highest bid at 1 pm is 10 000 dollars. You want to spend maximum 5 million on that guy. so you insert: 5 million, but the bid just raises with the current maximum percentage allowed.

you return at 8 pm and you see that you've bought the player for 3 million. However it could also be that he got sold for 8 million, but then again you had set your upper limit at 5 million, so you don't care.

I think this is a fair way of handling transfers for everyone. You don't have to be online all the time and you don't have to get frustrated.

One big contra is that when you're online you can annoy other players by raising prices or buy player X for 5 100 000. While 100 000 isn't that big of a difference.

Hmm.
