Hi hustlers and gunslingers.
Many years ago I opened up this suggestion on restructuring the CoC Cup. Although there was some positive feedback from some of RZA's heavyweights, Pete came along with his sledgehammer, and smashed it to ashes and dust. Since there has been a bit of healthy banter in this discussion of the most successful league in RZA, I thought I would come forward with this suggestion. I'm talking about a Super Friendly Cup, starting at the beginning of each season. Invited would be either all Bowl finalists of all eight 1.1 leagues (would make 16 participants), or all conference finalists (in that case 32 participants). I would love to see groups of 8 teams playing it out, in either 2 or 4 groups, in order to determine RZA's champion. I know there's already a REAL CoC in place, however, it does rarely get interesting until the 1/4 finale when the heavyweights start to face each other. In this suggested (Friendly Cup) version of the CoC Cup there wouldn't be a single boring game. All the best teams would play each other from the start in groups of 8, giving us a clear and concise picture of who REALLY are the strongest teams. Possibly Div.2 champions could also organise their own Super Friendly Cup, if there would be interest. Although I may personally not make it into such a tournament for a few more seasons (thanks to Turtles and others) I would be super excited just to watch the games and follow how it pans out. Would there be any interest to organise this event? Pete, the sledgehammer-wielding and Guinness drinking hunchback of Dresden, was here, made the links working Last edited on 2013-02-06 16:11:23 by Toni Gorilla |

Hi, Sledgehammer-Pete! I know you provided good arguments, I'm just trying to live up to being a proto-type Raedelsfuehrer.. PS: thx for fixing the links. |

I would like regular league "Champions 1.1". With the normal rules. *-1.1 Winner forward and weakest teams descend back. That would be great. But unrealistic Last edited on 2013-02-06 18:42:45 by Kaziklu bey |

But unrealistic I think a Champions 1.0 league would be extremely cool! 32 Team League -Could have either the 8 teams who won their 1.1 championship or all 16 teams who played in 1.1 Bowls promote. -So either 8 or 16 teams relegate depending on how many are going up. -fill it initially based on ranking or whatever, it will sort itself out over time -the biggest issue I can see is the issue of what 1.1 league teams would relegate back into when they dropped down. Given the current league/sim-time structure this would be an issue. However, if pete ever went to a system were sim time was determined by Home team setting and not just by league, then problem solved. Obviously it would be a long time before I could have a realistic shot at making such a league, but it would be a fantastic long term goal. I think it would be fun following the top league and there would be a lot of bragging rights for teams who could stay up there for several seasons in a row. I think something like that would add quite a lot to the competition level of the game. |
