So I was having a conversation with another owner about the level of game planning of teams. I am curious as to if people do much game planning for the tough/important games. So if you are willing answer to which applies most to you:

I don't game plan at all.

I game plan a little.

I game plan through several games or spend a significant time game planning.

I'll give my answer first. I don't game plan at all, which leads to my losses in big games. I don't game plan because the times I tried it blew up in my face worse than if I hadn't.

If the other team is -

a/ good

and

b/ tries to take advantage of D prediction

then you must counter that if your default game plan doesn't already.

For those that try to take advantage of D prediction you can simply have all your Ds reset for every quarter (separate incidence for each qtr or half).

And then, obviously, if a team likes to play a lot of pass D then run more and vice verse.

There is no doubt that a failure to address these sorts of obvious tactics might well lead to loss.

I think the more talented team should be reactive and only the clear underdog should consider being the creative initiator.

I've game planned twice this season. And both of those games were against teams that were about to go bot (unfortunately one has already made the transition).

Last season I looked at the last 2/3 games to see what D formations they'll use and try exploit them but not sure how much of an impact it had. So haven't done so this year other than the two times.

I generally don't do it because I'm afraid of being levelled lol. So I keep my D at 3-4 and pass and rush equally from the I-formation. I've added a few lines to my PB so once I add a few more I'll start making tweaks depending on opponents D.

I really enjoy game planning/scouting and can spend hours preparing for a match, but as many times as I do GP, I don't have the time and don't do anything at all.

I find it a great buzz when it all works out, and though it's VERY frustrating when it doesn't, it's then a great excuse for blowing off steam.

I game plan a little for regular games. For tough or important games, I game plan more thoroughly.

Most teams will get a quick scouting, looking at the past 3-5 games to see which are their primary formations.

The more important games get the spreadsheet treatment
