I know some will be hesitant to reply as it might give information to an opponent. General responses are still helpful however.

Here is my problem. I have two playbooks I've ran scrimmages on multiple times and I have the same issue with each one. With one I start off hot scoring and then taper off. I assume the defense catches on. The second one I start off slow but pick up steam at the end as it confuses the defense.

My questions are these:

Do you think it matters which playbook is more useful?

and

Have you run across the same issues?

and finally?

Any tips you have to overcome this issue?

Thank you for any input you give.

If you have a playbook where you can score early, that's perfect IMO. You'll use the playbook for the first quarter and after that you go with the random tactics from the game settings and just use the playbook for certain situations, like the 2-minute drills etc.

Question about the platbo0k and the Orders for game?
Does play book have to match what you have in the orders of the game?
Say 1st quarter 1st down you play a pro-set or a wishbone, and in the orders of the game does it have to be Pass formation pro-set ?Can you tell me a little about the orders of the game, and playbook ??Does it have to be a the same or close to it??

orders for the game come into play when there is a situation that the playbook doesn't account for!

i think the hot scoring is the better option as the teams tire towards the end of a game which means your opponent has to play catchup.

In answer to the OP id suggest you have the perfect options going into a game - and utilise the playbooks according to your opponent.

Against lesser teams and maybe for road games id go for the hot start playbook - for your harder matchups and home games id g for the strong finish, keeping things tight early.

But either way, teams are going to have a hard time setting their Defensive playbooks against you, which could well be all the advantage you need.

For me, i tend to simply play to my strengths against teams i should beat or consider to be similar to and let them worry about me - for teams i consider mine to be inferior to, i try to be more creative, different and give myself whatever edge i can get to eat into their player for player superiority. Which has worked.....sometimes!

Well...the first playbook is good to start with but gets predictable and defenses adjust to it. This playbook is about using the effective formations for my team.

The second playbook isn't great to start off with but it is designed to confuse the defense as to what to expect. So this playbook is really about setting up the defense to create mismatches in formations.

So they are completely different in philosophy...

So, why not set the first playbook as all 1st quarter. Then the second playbook as any quarter? You get a great start, then 3 quarters to setup mismatches and stuff.
