Why does a punter with str 38.5 and punting of over 30 average LESS than 30 yards per punt?

I used to coach youth football. From 6 years old to 12 years old. From the time they turned 10 they had to actually punt during games. They averaged more than 30 yards a punt. Looking at my last couple of game,...I might as well start going for it on every 4rth down,...as so far I am netting around 12 yards total when I punt (thats after the usual 12 yard return.)

This is seriously wrong. Children and old ladies can punt farther than these "pro" players.

This player here - - -> Ari Jón Margeirsson is a bit of a punting Legend.
He used to be Dark_Wing's Punter, and in those days Dark_Wing (manager of Kharkiv Atlantes) had a seriously good collection of Special Teams players.
When Margeirson had Punting=46.9 (and Strength of 45.3) he was averaging 38.8 yds per Punt.

lol ... not agreeing/disagreeing with you , just putting some numbers out there so you can see some of the better punters in RZA and what they can achieve.

The other point being that a skills-based wage for Punting=46.9 will be +/- $250,000 per u p d a t e ....... skill him up by 0.1 to 47 and he'll cost you =/- $298,000 per u p d a t e ...... so there probably aren't many Punters of 45+ skills because it's just not cost-effective.

Talent * limitations will also prevent some Punters from hitting really big skill levels.

I agree. Punters are too weak. Most high end college punters average 45yards per, whereas even drafted punters in this game are getting 35-ish with regular 12 yard returns tacked on.

In addition, the difference in punters' abilities is too small. My kicker with 14 punting and 40 strength averages 31 yards, whereas on another team a drafted punter with 49 str and over 35 punting averaged 35 per.

I think it should scale up a lot more according to player skill and strength, so as to have any point in actually having a dedicated punter.

I have thought for some time that the punting needs to be improved. There is no point at the moment of training the punt skill over about 25 as it isnt cost effective.

The current averages might be bearable if they were the averages AFTER the return

My original punter SUCKED, so I found one on the TM who is better, now I get punts off for about 32 yards, but when your punting from deep in your end of the field it makes for a short field for your opponent. I would think a rookie punter would get punts of 45 yards off with no problem. In the meantime I train my punter and just punt the ball when I need to and hope my defense holds.

Hopefully the next season will be dedicated to rewriting the special teams plays. Short punting, low field goal success rate, returns capped at 25 yards, kickers/punters only using strength + kicking/punting...'nuff said!
