438,546 according to a scout report, seems like a waste of money

yeah, $355k is skills-based wage .... $438,546 is because he's on a Franchise contract.

Agree with you about the waste of money though .... you could pay a whole team (and a pretty good team too) for that sort of money.

I'm paying 300k for my entire team. Even if I would consider paying that kind of money on a player, it wouldn't be a kicker. Don't think he will have enough impact for the money

the franchise contract was why i picked him up; plus if i can stay in the top div after the releg game; his salary wont hurt me too much

Am I misunderstanding something here? you are paying extra to have him on a franchise contract? Isn't the idea with franchise contracts to save money?

You save long term, but have ti spend short term.

Yeah I get that. But he is maxed in skill now at 48.5, but at the same time his salary is 16k higher than the skill based salary for skill level 49. How can that save money in the long run?

I think Pete should have said ... You save long term under the right circumstances

IMO, these aren't the right circumstances

Long term i.e. by the time the special teams plays get a revamp you could train your own kicker and save the millions in wages you spend on this one player alone.

Short term i.e. with the current kicking "engine" I doubt this kicker has a bigger impact than my 35 skilled kicker with a reasonable wage. He will miss FGs from any random distance between 18-62 yards, the same way any other kicker does currently.

That, dear Ranagol, is wrong. The chances raise for the kicker to make the goal...

You do!

My roster is probably the worst maintained in the whole game. It makes absolutely no sense to compare players against my roster, promised!

If you want a good Kicker/Punter, ask Panoramix ... he's Drafted at Pick #96 for the past 4 seasons, he always gets a Kicker or Punter every season
