What do you think an acceptable Pass Completion % is for a QB in RZA ??

The reason that I ask .... my main QB has a 51% completion rating, which I thought was OK.
But .... I've just been reading an article about Tim Tebow, the author says "He possesses the worst technique and throwing motion of any quarterback in the NFL" .... and then he says "For his career, Tebow has completed less than 48 percent of his passes and possesses a 75.3 quarterback rating"

... my QB is only marginally better than Tebow !

A raw completion % means very little unfortunately, it should be broken down by distance, something like:

- Passes behind or at the line of scrimmage: ~90%
- Passes between 1 and 5 yards: ~75%
- Passes between 6 and 10 yards: ~65%
- Passes between 11 and 20 yards: ~60%
- Passes of 21 yards or more: ~50%

So if you keep throwing bombs with your QB then 50% seems reasonable to me but if you mostly go for short passes then it's ridiculously low.

FWIW I have 2 drafted QBs who both average just around 50% completion even though my PB is set to only short passes so I think that's too low... that being said my WRs/TEs dropped 108 balls for 179 catches in league games or 38% of dropped passes which is ridiculously high when you consider that the highest drop rate in the NFL is only at 11% and the league average is about 7%.

So it might not be QBs not being accurate enough but WRs/TEs having really shitty hands.

Given that medium and long passes are pretty much useless, and completion stats are almost solely from short/screen passes, then currently completion %s are generally too low.

My QBs stats this season are: 560/263/47/88/115.01

Although my WRs are ~1:1 for catches:drops so 47% is pretty good lol.

Not quite, as the 'drops' stat actually combines passes dropped and passes defended by the DB.

Are you sure? If true I think those stats should be separated, a drop means the WR screwed up whilst a pass defended means the DB did a good job.

Sweet, thanks mate, that certainly puts the drop stats in perspective... I was wondering why my drafted WR was "dropping" so many balls!
