Rather then go too far OT in sh8888's oop thread I'll move some of the posts here:

Also, since defenses adapt if a team runs fairly often out of the SG4WR you'd expect one of the 2 safeties to come closer to the line of scrimmage to help stop the run so the FB would have 4 blockers and 6 tacklers ahead of him, not great odds if you ask me.

Does this actually happen? I thought the engine just changed to your selected running formation...

I'm not sure but it should.

My understanding is the following (but it'd be good if someone confirmed or corrected it)
- If the D expects the PASS your Safeties will line-up deep.
- If the D expects the RUN at least one of your Safeties will come closer to the line of scrimmage to help stop the run.

If the alignment doesn't change at least the mentality of the players should so if you're expecting RUN the safety will have their eyes on the FB right from the snap instead of having their eyes on the QB/WRs.

Yes it does, but it sort of fails here.

For a formation like the SG4WR, the run D should be at full bore if the O is running about 50% of the time. IMO it should be centered ~ 85% pass.

And yes, that means I'm saying it should not get that much better vs the pass since it's a pass D in the first place. So the prediction bias should be able to move a little in the direction of pass and a lot in the direction of run.
