Let´s talk about the Patriots here we have none existing thread about my Pats.
Free agency look like a good time to create such a thread especially now when Welker sign in Denver. So no action until now on the market. No sign, no resign. Chung is gone. very often injured and only BU last season. Thomas gone very versatile OL (mostly played last season when Mankins or Vollmer were out) Welker gone. Vollmer, Woodhead and Talib no action yet. |

After Welker sign with the Broncos the Patriots agreed with Danny Amendola now.
I don´t really understand this action. Welker was offered a 2 year 10M contract with incentives. That sounds like 5M guaranteed. This means 5M a year and maybe 2.5-3M guaranteed a year. Amendola got a 5 year 31M (10M guaranteed) contract. means 6.2 a year (more than denver pays welker now) and the whole offer for welker guaranteed for Amendola. You know that it works out with Welker but you don´t know if it works out too with Amendola. It´s another WR who played under Josh Mc Daniels in St. Louis. And there are rumors that the Pats are not completely satisfied with Lloyd. I don´t really understand this move. They could also give Welker a 3 year contract this would be long term too. And You know what you have on welker. ![]() |

Amendola is a good add to your team, in a very similar mold of Welker. Younger, has more lengthy potential of productive seasons and that is probably why he gets the extra money not offered to Welker.
The main thing you will have to worry about with Amendola is injuries. He plays roughneck as a little guy and gets destroyed across the middle from time to time. He will likely average one injury per season which costs some missed games. And the other drawback of course you have to hope he quickly develops a chemistry with Brady. This is where I see a lot of Pats fans concerned because it is hard to overstate the value of knowing where your guy will always be without seeing him. Brady and Welker obviously had that down. . Leon Washington signed with the Patriots. He should fill Welkers role as Punt Returner.

There is no point whatsoever doubting any signing the Pats make as they rarely make a mistake!

Donald Jones is the 3rd WR now on the roster. He had 2 TDs last season for the Bills vs our Pats. in each game 1. The long run in the away game was really nice. And he wouldnt cost very much.
Danny Woodhead is gone. He agreed with the Chargers. For me it was expected cause we sign Washington for a similar role like Woodhead had the last seasons. Kyle Arrington agreed to a 4 year resign deal in principle. 16M with 8,5 guaranteed means 4M a year 2.125M guaranteed. Very interesting action on the WR position. Emmanuel Sanders visits Patriots. Is a restricted FA from the Steelers. Would be very nice if we can pay him. And this was a sign for lloyd who will now restructure his contract. Freeney, Wilson (SS Cards) and Abraham (DE Falcons) visit Pats today too. |

The former Cardinal Adrian Wilson (SS) signed with the Pats.

As a Bengals fan, I really hope the Pats sign Sanders. The Steelers are counting on him to replace Mike Wallace, and are really hurting at WR behind him and Brown. It always feels good if we can sweep them.
