Does anyone know who covers the additional WR's if you match-up SG 4WRs with 3-4-4 or 3-3-5?
Presumably the CBs take the two outside receivers. So are the inside receivers covered by LBs then? Safeties? Left wide open? Or is it a zone thing, so like 2 WRs are really covered by one CB? Steve SD Blitz |

this game run a zone defense cover 2
CB cover outside zone from screen to 10yards the saftey OLB cover the iner outside zones 0-10yards MLB cover the middles zone SF play the cover 2 deep But exatr SF plays the 5-15yards middle zone So It hard to tell But I know that the 335 is good pass D as long as you have good OLB and a 3rd SF But it very weak against the run because of the missing DL And to answer your other question the OLB are zone covering the inside WR against the 4wr Last edited on 2013-03-21 00:35:00 by andrew2scott2 |

But where does an inside pass change to an outside pass? The hash marks? In a SG4 formation an outer right pass could be something simple like hitting the outer WR and an inner right pass could be a WR going over the middle or just running downfield in a straight line but with a WR outside him. If you can change speculation to fact please share it with us all |

My understanding, surprisingly enough, is that an "Outside Pass" is an outside pass and an "Inside Pass' is an inside pass.
Outside being toward the sideline, inside being toward the middle. Whether it's an outside or inside WR or a TE matters not. There does seem to be evidence that an inner pass can effectively become an outer pass if the QB gets enough time but this is what I would call the field of "speculation". This is based on the observation that we see MLBs intercepting inner passes to outside WRs. I wonder has anyone ever seen a OLB intercept an inner pass from a WR/TE from the other side? |

What I am unsure about is whether there is a penalty due to the OLBs not lining up directly over them as the inner CBs of the Dime probably do. This only applies, of course, if the pass is thrown fairly quickly. If the QB has time then the inner WRs no doubt move into the zones of MLBs, SFs, and outside CBs if they ran an out. |

13:38 3 and 11 to go on own 47, Warwick Harvey (OC) snaps the ball to Turell Dyer (QB), Turell Dyer (QB) selected Kimya Ojukwu (WR/Ri) as target, Egbert Schmidt (DE/R) breaks through the line, Stevie Collins (FB/R) blocks, the receiver of this inner right pass catches the ball, the tackle was missed by Barclay Dundas (CB/L), Jerzy Weber (OLB/L) made the tackle, forward progress: 13 yards, New first down (Shotgun 4 WR vs. 3-3-5
It seem to be that the CB cover the inner passes, too. The inner WR caught the ball and the CB missed the tackle, before the OLB could made the tackle. |

Yes, this is why I was wondering if it was something like: Or is it a zone thing, so like 2 WRs are really covered by one CB?

Steve SD Blitz It is definitly a zone thing and it seem to be that a good CB can cover 2 WR. For sure he need enough Speed and tactical skills to be in the range of both WR. |
