there are still only 7 defensive players in the box using a 3-4 with a +1 if you include the SS(not sure if that happens here in RZA).

I like to think that if your playbook says pass defense against SG 4 then your players will line up a little further back than if you defend against the run.

Dynamo Patriots vs Athletics - Cup

This is a worthy V3 bashing point right here -

SG4WR vs 3-4 - - -> 20 carries for an 8.4 avg

INSANE!

But there is someone suggesting that should the Athletics pick a run out of the playbook and put more people in the box then the Patriots would just be able to lob it over the top for the WRs to score long TDs. Or if he tried the other way of putting more DBs on the field thus leading to an 18.4 ypc average.

Man that guys braincell must of died of loneliness a long time ago

against the sg-formations i use the 3-4-4 no matter if the offense rushes or passes. So i can´t tell on which play my 3-4-4 was expecting pass or rush (does this a l t e r anything btw???).

like bwadders mentioned: if you use a 4-x-x or 5-x-x formation you get killed through the air, if you use the dime you get some more ints but also >10 yds/carry.
If pete likes to tweak something he should start there.

The 3-4-4 worked ok for me so fat, but not today.

Comparing the SG4wr and SG2WR I also have the impression that the former is more effective as run formation. That would be kind of weird imo. Anyone else having that impression?

I realize the current engines has flaws, but there seem to be some who think the previous "long passing" engine was superior. I think v3 is a lot closer to reasonable, it just needs some tweaking/improvements.

I tend to agree but you see the dime more against the SG4 which means no OLBs to tackle you once you get past the DL.

The main problem I can see at the moment is the LBs wait for the RBs to come on to them instead of meeting them as close to the gain line as possible. This is not just the SG formations but in all formations. Once that ball is passed to the rusher the LBs compress the field in RL. Good luck coding that in Pete

Really? How far back to the LBs sit normally then?

In regular football, a LB is 3-5 yards behind the LOS.

However, with some of the newer hybrid defenses, an OLB sometimes lines up almost at the LOS (to either rush the passer or show blitz).

Well, obviously!

But it's still 5 vs 7 - there is always gunna be a free defender (or 2) around, and even that's assuming that no defender beats a block. The RB will need to break tackles and/or put moves on defenders on every play just to get more than 2 yds.

The Athletics clearly have one of the better Ds in RZA and they stacked up against the SG4WR like they were a bot D!

Sorry, but the word "insane" is highly appropriate.
