Is this right pete? Why would "Physical" Conditioning effect skills?

Ever try to block a guy when you’re exhausted?

Sorry...I didn't mean to imply that I thought there were serious issues with the experience portion of the game. I was approaching it from a theory of modeling/simulating some thing from real life.

Same thing, I was just trying to clarify what I thought was your point, which I agree with... but yeah, certainly not a major issue at all... I just think it'd be more realistic if EXP wasn't linear because I don't think it is irl but yeah, not big deal either.

Yeah, but that's because you're exhausted, not because your blocking skills have disappeared. You still know what to do, you just can't!

From a math point of view this is quite the same, isnt it?

"Blocking is the theoretical aspect - how to - of doing a block". If it's a theoretical aspect why it should be related to exhaustion? Player knows how to block even if he's tired...

If they were one skill then yes, but you train them separately so they can be combined in different proportions.
Imagine 2 players:
1. The superman rookie. 50 Str and 10 Blocking. He has the strength to man handle his D# player/s opposite, but his technique is in early development. When he gets tired, he gets ineffective fast as his strength is his ability to beat other players.
2. The wily old veteran. 25 Str and 50 Blocking. His physical skills are on the decline, but he's played 15 years a pro and knows every technique and trick in the book to get a good block in place for anything the O line needs to do. When he gets worn out he still knows his technique inside and out, it's just harder to make it work on someone facing him with technique AND strength.
He doesn't forget everything he learnt in 15 years because he's tired.

Well yeah, but...............

Oh well, good to know anyway. Not that it will make me train PC any more regularly but interesting to know.

Just to clarify that math statement.

At the end of the day all needed skills are multiplied, factored, added, whatever, to one value. So if a block happens, we add obviously blocking and ... and ... and some more of these ... to ONE factor. The counterpart calculation for the opponent is the same, just using maybe different skills. At the end we see

ValueOFBlocker vs ValueOfOpp...and the higher one wins the situation.

Therefore it is "the same value" from a math point of view. Sorry for the confusion

Pete,

the big EXP question .... seems to go around in circles (like many RZA threads )

so .... let's cut to the chase .....

Two simple questions :-

(1) Are you happy with the way EXP works in RZA currently ?
(2) Have you got any plans (short/medium/long-term) to a l t e r the way EXP works ?

1) It works and does what it should do, but like every little thing it could be better
2) not yet
