After a scoreless first quarter between the Barnim Steel and the Stockport Sabres, Steel HB Fritz Schneider started the scoring run for the Steel with a six yard touch down run at the 12:09 mark in the second quarter. This was followed by two Steel field goals by Guiseppe Wolff from 18 yards out, and a deep kick for 62 yards with 20 seconds to go putting the Steel on top, 13-0.

The 13-0 lead held for the Steel to complete the first half of play, but the 10th ranked Sabres were not out of the game yet. QB Levi Carbajal found WR Cole Dorsey wide open for a 38 yard pass touchdown to put the score at 13-7 at the otherwise scoreless third quarter from both teams.

Lead by a ruthless ground game where the Steel had 155 total rushing yards versus the Sabres with 64 and the Steel keeping the ball to themselves for 38 minutes versus Sabres for 21 minutes, clock eating and defense was responsible for ending the game. Barnim Steel’s kicker Guiseppe Wolff was called upon again in the fourth with three more fieldgoals to win the game, 22-7.

The “Cinderella” appearance of the 16th ranked Split Donkeys was cut short in just under two minutes of the first quarter, when the Motol Duck’s QB Ihor Holik spotted WR Zinoviy Vynnyk open for a 50 yard touchdown strike to put the Ducks up early, 7-0. Donkey’s answered early in the second quarter with a fieldgoal, but the Ducks continued the onslaught with a second quarter delivery of 17 points.

After the 24-6 halftime Ducks lead, they never looked back. A balanced rushing and passing juggernaught, they amassed 493 total yards, 262 on the ground and 231 through the air. With a repeat of 24 points in the first half, Ducks captured the win, 48-6.

The Undertaker 21-0 offense played with absolute precision from the coin toss, handing the Danish Southern Cowboys a tough loss, 52-10. Undertaker QBs Hilario Serra and Christian Bernal discovered holes in the stingy Cowboys defensive secondary, with Serra throwing for 115 yards and two touchdowns, while Bernal threw 159 yards and two touchdowns.

At the 11:32 mark of the fourth quarter, the Undertaker put a stamp on their winning day with an impressive 61 yard wide open run from HB Zuberi Tinibu for a touchdown, keeping the feverish comeback effort of the Cowboys to get back into the game down.

The Jersey Scorpions blasted out of the lockerroom on fire, striking first blood on the Free Agent Mascots with a tough defensive stand, and owning most of the first quarter capped with a 22 yard fieldgoal by Hu Chiew in the first four minutes of the game leading 3-0.

The Mascots reasserted themselves instantly in the second with the very first play, capping a late first quarter drive with a four yard pass to WR Johannes Holmstrom for a touchdown putting the Mascots on top, 7-3. With another touchdown and field goal in the second quarter, the Mascots led at the half, 17-3.

Jersey Scorpions were again impressive out of the locker room, scoring first at the 10 minute mark of the third quarter, with a four yard touchdown reception by Kuan-Yin Thi to bring them back into the game, behind by only seven points, losing 17-10.

But that was the last scoring from the Scorpions, as the Mascots recharged by eating the clock and picking up two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to win the game, 34-10.

Grey Goose Invitational hosted by Atma City, found mixed enthusiasm by otherwise Xenos fans for their tournament.

“Mascots just don’t seem to have the word ‘quit’ in their playbook” one Xenos fan stated.

“Motol Ducks would be my favorite team if I didn’t love the Xenos so much” another fan said.

The Grey Goose Invitational final four teams has now been set. Number two tournament ranked Undertaker 21-0 face the number four ranked Barnim Steel, and the number three ranked Motol Ducks visit the number one ranked Free Agents Mascots this Sunday to see who moves on to the Grey Goose Invitational Championship.

Another great report. I am also very pleased that I am part of this tournament. I have a bad feeling that I will be out after todays match, but I won´t give up without a fight.

The final four of the Grey Goose Invitational did not disappoint any fans. All four teams played like champions, and whether a win or a loss, all stats showed it.

Undertaker 21-0 established control early at Steel Arena versus the Barnim Steel with a 14-0 halftime lead. Undertaker controlled the line of scrimmage, having four OL’s with double digit pancakes. It was no surprise then, that they picked up a total of 211 rushing yards versus the Steel’s 89.

The start of the game was a see-saw battle until 5:07 remained in the first quarter. Steel kicker Guiseppe Wolff missed a 52 yard fieldgoal, but the very first play for Undertaker after the miss was a 58 yard touchdown bomb to WR Joshua Polanco. Steel were fired up in the second half, inspiring the home crowd with a 25 interception which led to a 43 yard fieldgoal to get them on the board. Undertaker stuck with the game plan, scored twice more to give them their first Grey Goose Invitational championship appearance, winning 24 to 10.

Free Agent Mascots kept the Motol Ducks scoreless in the first quarter, getting two touchdowns on two consecutive series leading 14-0. The Mascots brought their own version of a balanced offense approach, picking up 259 yards on the ground and 249 in the air, cracking the 500 total yard barrier. Ducks lost QB Ihor Holik at the 4:31 mark in the first quarter, but he returned just into the second. Ducks managed a fieldgoal, but were down 21-3 at the half.

The second half was much the same as the first with the scoring. But by the end of the third quarter, Mascots held a big lead 28-3. Ducks fought with many impressive drives, but the Mascots held on to only allow them another fieldgoal. Both teams displayed grueling line of scrimmage control football, but it was the Mascots who emerged with a win at home 42-6 and giving them their first Grey Goose Invitational championship.

The Championship is now set. It will be tournament ranked number two Undertaker 21-0 from the Steel Division, visiting the number one tournament ranked Free Agent Mascots from the Gold Division for the inaugural Grey Goose Invitational. Championship is set for 21:00 on 2013-06-23, good luck to both teams.
