LBs only pass rush on blitz. but not only OLBs. MLBs too. but be careful cause there are holes on run defense when they blitz.

In the NFL most teams have a "base" defense - in fact a lot of defensive coordinators are broken down into 3-4 or 4-3 defensive coaches.

I suppose that RZA defensive formations are static. So if you play 4-3 on pass plays there will be always: 2 pass rushers (2 DE), 3 LBs and 2 CBs in underneath pass coverage, and 2 SFs in deep coverage. Don't know what 2 DTs do The only adjustment you can make is to send (random) LB to blitz.

So ... in a standard 3-4 defense, you only have 3 pass-rushers with all of the LBs dropping back in coverage? That is very different than the philosophy of most 3-4 alignments. The vast majority of defenses will rush 4 players at a minimum regardless of whether they are 4-3 or 3-4 ... in the 3-4 that 4th rusher is almost always a OLB. One of the benefits of the 3-4 is that you can move that pass-rushing OLB around from left to right to take advantage of matchups. DeMarcus Ware on the Cowboys does this quite a bit ... and on a mini-tangent, with Rob Ryan (3-4 guy) leaving as the Cowboys DC, Monte Kiffin is coming in and instilling a 4-3 defense, which means DeMarcus will be playing with his hand on the ground now.

I suppose that you only have 2 pass rushers (2 DEs)...

you can also blitz the safeties, if you want to take that chance.

I forgot about SF blitz (the most dangerous thing if your opponent runs )

In this game DE-s are passrushers, allways...

Whoa - so OLBs are never pass rushers regardless of base defense? Or are they only considered a pass rusher if they are set to blitz?

Yes.
But blitz here is the blitz of the one random linebacker...

There are designed run blitzes as well... I was under the thought process that the type of blitz scheme was tied into what your defense was preferencing at the moment. A number of run blitz scheme involve either overloading a side or gap you assume the run will coming to and/or sending run support (LBs and/or SFs dependent on scheme) downhill immediately and reacting late if they read pass and attempting to recover. The fundemental difference of run blitz versus pressure blitzing is depth in the backfield. Run blitzers typically try to get to a spot and control it before they get blocked away from it... while pressure blitzing wants to get to the otherside of the line, with less of a regard for gap control.

I might be assuming too much about the complexities of game engine though.
