What physicals do you demand for the different d-positions? It is mainly with MLB, OLB, SS and FS I have doubts.
I place my highest strength players on the d-line, and the fastest of those at DE. The fastest players I place at CB. Solid physicals and high INT I place as MLB. Those are easy So which physicals are your minimum requirements for MLB, OLB, SS and FS, and which physicals make you place are player at those positions? |

So what makes you decide to place them as OLB, SS or SF?

Last season I moved my FS to CB to strengthen that area and ended up giving loads of huge TDs, even though the guy I moved to FS was still solid. So based on my experience I rate FS quite highly. Maybe I'd be better describing FS as more intelligent CBs, than basically as OLBs... |

I think part of my problem is that I am not certain of the differences in the roles of the three types of players. |

What Int levels should the LBs have (MLB vice OLB). I would figure a MLB and perhaps safety would need high Int?

hmm I agree with almost everything said, but still dont quite understand what Intelligence actually does for a Safety. I think LBs and CBs mostly need it because of their duties in pass coverage and the matchup against the QB and WR /TE there, but SF almost exclusively make clean up tackles in RZA, when someone in front of them misses or its a really bad formation-matchup, so they basically have to chase down the ball carrier - speed, tackling and vision seem way more important to me in that situations

The argument could be made that CBs need the least amount of INT since they only cover shallow zones which would require more read and react skills (more vision than INT) but having a high INT then could help make that pocess quicker too. So I kind of see it as Player recognizes ball carrier breaking loss (Vision) player then decides on best angle to cut him off (INT) then all the physicals and Tackling skills come into play if the angle is good enough. |
