i know quite a lot of managers here claim safeties to have high INT.
imo strength is more important than INT for safeties.

Interpret this however you want; raw Stats for Intelligence :-

Draft Average (Season 2) :- Safety - 39.9 , CornerBack - 38.6
Draft Average (Season 8) :- Safety - 37.3 , CornerBack - 36.1

I have my starting DT/NT at 48 and higher and backs ups at 45+

DE are 40/40/30 (speed, strength, agility). The goal anyway and I'm pretty much there.

MLB 50 intelligence. Strength 45+ Speed 40+

OLB Strength 40+ Speed 45+

CB strength 35+ Speed 45+

SF pretty much the same as an OLB but stronger.

Safeties may require intelligence, but I think the perception is that CB are just more important on more plays than the safeties. Hence a lot of people are putting their better DBs at CB.

Just a guess, but seems to me the safeties would be more important than the CBs in recognizing a run vs a pass, which would require a high int.

.....and to decide whether to cover a TE over the middle or a WR. I wonder if a SF can get suckered by a RB out of the backfield? I think they do occasionally.

It is not so much about pass or run, it is more because a CB is limited to his side plus parts of the center field, while SF "control" the whole field. Therefore SF is - for my understanding - a tougher job. Not saying this is related to any of the named skills, but could be

Seems to me that in RZA a good player is a good player and a good player is determined by their overall skills including physicals , Int and specifics.

IRL a player with 35 strength can't play OL because they would have no chance of holding off a 50 STR NT. In RZA, the strength probably makes up part of the blocking calculation including blocking, pos, agil etc etc so a 35 strength OL probably can be a good OL in RZA.

So I don't have minimums. Its a case of choosing the best overall players and then positioning them. If I have a 50 Int guy and a 50 speed guy in my best players then the Int one will go LB and the speed guy CB.

But if a dude with 35 speed and 39 strength is one of my best players (probably because they have high experience and high tackling, vision) then I'm going to play them somewhere (probably DT if they don't have high Int) even though they don't meet the physical minimums in this sort of thread.

This makes sense ...

It would also suggest defensive players use Int more than offensive players. Offensive players know what is coming, defensive players players don't so need to think on their feet more.

Would suggest the running order for who uses Int the most would be something like

QB
MLB
OLB
SF
CB
DL
RB/FB/WR
OL

Depends a bit on whether the game regards picking up the blitz and seeing the holes for a RB/FB as Intelligence based - I'm assuming its fully covered by Vision, if not would maybe shift this up to CB levels.
