Pete,
Are you monitoring/controlling how many (semi) draft class Free Agents have entered the TM and how much money its taken out of the game - plus what effect its having overall? I just wonder if there is cause to dwell a pause on the amount that have entered the game (and still to enter) - i personally am not sure it does many new teams that much of a favour - causing them financial distress in many cases and distracting them from the rudiments of the game to become established. Top teams are able to get better players easier to give depth to squads whereas it would be about now that these guys could start coming back to the pack a bit more naturally as the draft players they picked up in S1 and 2 start to reach retirement age and leave. If youre 'on top of everything' and are happy with the amount and effect then great - but otherwise im just wondering if maybe its time to slow it down some. Also, just on the TM subject, you ran a trial of an alternative system where bids could be placed and directly accepted and vetoed by other clubs - sorry if ive missed the outcome of this, but what happened to it and why was it (seemingly) canned? |

When I started with that Gold players, I monitored it closely for a good time. I have seen what I expected. We burned some good money, and the players became cheaper over all...
However, yes, of course this adds problems on the other side of that medal, as always. We had our first draft now under this new conditions a few days agao, and maybe I should start monitoring again. But again: we can adjust the number of players that become Gold players, but IMO we should not switch this feature of. There is an easy way to gain money in this game, just follow what we call "common sense", and listen to the mentors. They will always tell "go for the stadium, ignore high salary coaches,..." Is there any special things why you mention this now? |

It was canned because there was no clear winner.

For the "trade"...it was a mess after all, since too many players tried to find only the negative out of it. I feel the community/game is not ready for such a feature now. But be sure, I will bring that back on the table

If youre happy - all good. No worries about the alternative method - just sprang to mind as an afterthought whilst typing that out. |

My only suggestion is that Gold players should roll out older. If they entered as Golds but at age 25-27, they would never truly be of draft caliber but would still siphon out some of the excess $$$$.

I think this is exactly wrong. I think noobs can close the gap a lot faster now. Veteran teams are already stacked and backups are a minor factor. If I was a noob, I'd be happy to see veterans blowing cash on those FAs just for backup purposes. |

They can close the gap teams/rating was - but not club overall wise - and as has been seen, they are too focused on too freely available Gold players, and dont concentrate on the basics/fundamentals which is needed - then wonder why they are in financial trouble.
Simply closing the gap players wise is not what this long term management game is all about - id have thought even someone as deluded as yourself would see that. |
