I seem to remember Admin once hinting that the adjacent members of the O-Line do/could work together in some ways. Is this true ? (or did I imagine it ).
And if it is true .... in what specific circumstances does it occur ? So ... for example .... Imagine the Defence has a 3-man Front (3-4-4) for example, if one of the DE's is mismatched against the OT, does the OG assist ? .... or if the DE breaks through and sacks the QB, is that more-or-less the DE overpowering the OT and the OG doesn't really enter into the equation ? |

Not sure but i've got the impression from discussions that there individual matchups plus an overall collaborative factor where teamwork is taken into account.
When there 4 DL they take on the oline guards and tackles but not the centre. You can see the effect of this in game stats. |

right now it is all one on one blocking. fact
but teamwork is suppose to be factored in for the line . believe need to verify now as far as picking up a player how has a broken block only the TE and FB can do that Last edited on 2013-05-16 09:55:12 by andrew2scott2 |

The way I figure it just now is that the total teamwork of the lines make up how good the unit is in covering gaps.
Yes this is probably the main job of the lines, therefore if you have one(or more) "lone wolf" players in there who cant co-operate with the rest of the guys it makes for large gaping hole(s). |

Having no stats doesn't mean the center was not involved. on a 5 vs 4 line it is on the C to decide, if he makes the room less open for the DTR or DTL. How good this works, and how "blind" he understand the needs of the OGR or OGL, is based on skills. Since we dont have a stat about "how good is he supporting", and since the OGs are doing the job basically, which is just easier because of the protection the C is providing, you cannot measure that effect in the stats. This is the same for 3 vs 5 setups...My english gives up, hopefully you get what I mean. Last edited on 2013-05-16 10:08:51 by pete |

See my post above yours so, basically ....... the OC can 'help' the OG (sometimes), and the OG can help the OT (sometimes) ? .... is that fair to say ? Last edited on 2013-05-16 10:20:05 by sh8888 |

That is not wrong at least...it would be better saying it like this: each OLiner can help OLers left or right of him Last edited on 2013-05-16 10:30:59 by pete |
