How about renaming /nationalizing players and/or managers for credits?
I agree there needs to be more to do with credits and it should remain cosmetic type benefits that add enjoyment but not a game advantage. |

These wont make a team suddenly start winning everything but will be a nice incentive to purchase more credits and raise some money for the game. So a training boost for real-life cash. Nope sorry, beginning of the end of the game if they go down this route. |

When your star player retires you could 'turn him into a coach' using a rename. |

How about your team name? Some people change their team's name every now and then, this could be another feature costing a couple of credits to non-supporters.
