Might be stupid question. I've only been thru 2 drafts so pretty new.
Does talent not matter all that much? I've seen alot of 3 and 3.5 star talents in the first round and you are all excited about them. Whats good advice to a noob when evaluating draft picks? The team I took over was pretty bad. But both drafts I've seemed to have gotten great players. I've focused mostly on 4-5 stars talent wise when adding thru draft and FA. Clearly I've also taken into account strength speed and depending on position things like vision positioning catching etc. Recently I added a 3 star CB thru FA b/c he was rated 3.5 and has great stats. But for the most part in the draft I've tried to add 5 stars especially if they have special traits. |

DL Pessimino Tiwa and LB Fedir Ralchenko are examples from last years draft and QB Pardo/ RB Stryfeller from my first years draft. Rounds 1 & 2 of the draft

Well, I don't really care about talent because you can't really train everybody to their max skill level (Cap reason) - except you played a few seasons on really low wages and saved some big money.
So in general talent level is maybe the last thing I have a look at when I compare players... But I know from one player in Thunder region that 2* or 2,5* Talent is a red flag for him as he does think skill level is too low to compete in Elite League for exemple. So like everything, there are always 2 or more opinios |

I prefer my starters at 40 in skillls minimum. So my red flag would be under 2. Now i still have my punter at a terrific 0.5 star.
But on somme positions where you need a lot of skills ( TE FB OL DL) I could easily derogate at having 4 skills at 36 can make it up with 3 skills at 40. Also on positions you do not have coaches, training is way slower. So hard to reach the 40s. And even if we know some people can disagree, it is all about the global pictures imo. Low skills are not ideal but if the player has high TW, INT and XP, it will compensate a little. Even AGI can compensate but on a financial aspect I would keep it at the other skills level. |
